The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem expresses its strongest condemnation of the Israeli airstrike that have struck its church compound in the city of Gaza.
The Patriarchate emphasizes that targeting churches and their institutions, along with the shelters they provide to protect innocent citizens, especially children and women who have lost their homes due to Israeli airstrikes on residential areas over the past thirteen days, constitutes a war crime that cannot be ignored.
Despite the evident targeting of the facilities and shelters of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and other churches – including the Episcopal Church of Jerusalem Hospital, other schools, and social institutions – the Patriarchate, along with the other churches, remain committed to fulfilling its religious and moral duty in providing assistance, support, and refuge to those in need, amidst continuous Israeli demands to evacuate these institutions of civilians and the pressures exerted on the churches in this regard.
The Patriarchate stresses that it will not abandon its religious and humanitarian duty, rooted in its Christian values, to provide all that is necessary in times of war and peace alike.
Hamas uses the people as shields for their weapons, they go along with it, 90% of the “inhabitants” VOTED to have Hamas as their leaders. Are they really innocent?
No. Over the years I have noticed Arab Christians are not always supporters of Israel.
I believe they were hiding weapons and even hamas acting like human shields, protecting baby murderers, making themselves justified military targets.
What do you believe? Do you believe it was ok for them to protect and arm the very people who attacked Israel and beheaded babies?
That is what it seems like you believe to me.
Let’s be real clear here: are you accusing the Orthodox Church of allowing its churches to be used as rocket-launching facilities and weapons depots?
I didn’t read the whole indictment put out by the patriarch source in Jerusalem. Hard to say which Orthodox church he represents.
No one likes their stuff damaged, but do wonder if the unnamed Patriarch bothered to demand a modicum of ANYTHING from HAMAS, or the Palestinians who raised them. As in, possibly, to release the hostages, or how about for HAMAS to come forward and confess their shocking atricities and crimes, in order to spare the living?
HAMAS is essentially still basking in glory for their shock and awe slaughter of innocent, unsuspecting GAZA families and civilians.
I mean, reaping the wind is a promise in the Middle East. This is no country club for the Jewish people and Israeli citizens to have their existence threatened by Palistinian grifters who have no nation. They breed HAMAS hatred and then call themselves victims. Right Next Door.
Israel made a mistake to give them work permits to mil around outside their bank.
“...they should not be targeting churches.”
The Israelis are not targeting churches.
If you had to be set down in the Middle East somewhere, which country would it be?
Palestine, Jordan, Iran, or conceivably Israel?
How do we know this location was targeted?
Do we know this was not another terrorist rocket failure (they run about 30%)?
A “hit” is not always a target, and even then, I’m pretty sure Hamas would be more than happy to feed fake info. or appearances to Israel to gain a hit on a church or shelter to create casualties for their narrative. In war, a lot of plain ‘ol mistakes happen too. Ask Pat Tillman.
Why is it hard to understand Hamas WANTS high Palestinian civilian casualties, while Israel operates under perhaps the strictest ROE on the planet (and loses a lot of soldiers doing so.)
You reek of self- righteousness.
They targeted the building NEXT to the church. The actual church received very little damage. There are pictures of the church on-line.
Bkmk
Are you accusing Israel of intentionally targeting the church? I’m sure Rashida Tlaib and the Squad would agree.
Dittoes and then some.
The Palestinians are a people who have metastasized their hate to the point that they are burned out deviant empty husks. God warns us all that even He will turn His back on us if we abandon Him beyond some point. The Palestinians have found that point I’d say.
God knows who in the Gaza is acting purely out of love for Him or hatred for the Jews.
Fine points you make in your reply! Important ones.
Christians are in terrible trouble. I should know... I am a Traditional Roman Catholic. We’re but a remnant in the USA.
The Vatican turned on the faith with the terrible fruits of Vatican II. Holy Mother Church is, today, in tatters with heresy.
Sons of Ishmael, forever wonderers and warriors, Muslims radicals are excused as harmless, impoverished “PALESTINIANS” with no home. No, they are wonderers and warriors, against Issac.
The American and even Christian naivete is epic. American media intends to keep it that way.
Best,
Rita
