Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 16
16 “All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. 2 They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. 3 They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, 5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
Leader and Comforter,
Your bear Witness to the Truth
Because You ARE the Truth.
You Bear Witness to Show the Way
Because You ARE the Way
You Bear Witness To Save the Lives of Those Led to the Slaughter,
Because You ARE Life.
You Alone are the Faithful and True Witness,
The One And Only God.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

A lot of Bibles print the words of Jesus in Red Ink. These are called, naturally, "Red Letter Editions". Some people like them, others do not. Some of the reasons for not liking the red font are:
1. Red Fonts are harder to read.
2. All of Scripture is Inspired, so why make the fonts different colors?
and this one:
3. How do they know that Jesus actually SAID those things? (that was the one the sneering student from the liberal seminary threw at me when I worked in the school bookstore).
I have no doubt in my mind that Jesus DID say those things. I also believe that The Holy Spirit inspired John to write it exactly as Jesus said it, though perhaps not in red ink, which I find a bit harder to read with my 71-year-old eyes.
My Study Bible is a Red Letter Edition, but I read it on the porch in filtered sunlight, and I have no trouble reading it. As Winter approaches, I will have to move indoors, but for now, it is a delight reading my eight chapters every morning in the sunshine.
This is the first time we have gone through all Four Gospels, one at a time, chapter by chapter. The first three Synoptic Gospels were similar, although each carried the personality of their authors. The Gospel of John is very deep and Spiritual, and shows an intimacy of friendship with Jesus that the others don't seem to have. Whole chapters are in Red Ink, showing two things:
1. John, the "Disciple that Jesus Loved" listened intently and hung on every word.
2. The Holy Spirit, Who inspired all four Evangelists, gave John a very special anointing to relate to us the Thoughts, Prayers, and Teachings of Jesus, in His Own Words.
Many of us have said "oh, imagine how awesome it would have been to BE THERE when Jesus walked the Earth, to have sat with Him, eat and drink with Him, and listen to Him teach! I wish I could have been there!"
The Gospel of John gives us that experience, if you read it with an open heart.

Psalm 79
A Psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;
they have defiled your holy temple;
they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
2 They have given the bodies of your servants
to the birds of the air for food,
the flesh of your faithful to the wild animals of the earth.
3 They have poured out their blood like water
all around Jerusalem,
and there was no one to bury them.
4 We have become a taunt to our neighbours,
mocked and derided by those around us.
5 How long, O Lord? Will you be angry for ever?
Will your jealous wrath burn like fire?
6 Pour out your anger on the nations
that do not know you,
and on the kingdoms
that do not call on your name.
7 For they have devoured Jacob
and laid waste his habitation.
8 Do not remember against us the iniquities of our ancestors;
let your compassion come speedily to meet us,
for we are brought very low.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us, and forgive our sins,
for your name’s sake.
10 Why should the nations say,
‘Where is their God?’
Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants
be known among the nations before our eyes.
11 Let the groans of the prisoners come before you;
according to your great power preserve those doomed to die.
12 Return sevenfold into the bosom of our neighbours
the taunts with which they taunted you, O Lord!
13 Then we your people, the flock of your pasture,
will give thanks to you for ever;
from generation to generation we will recount your praise.
