Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 15
The Vine and the Branches
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!
You are The Scepter,
The Epitome of Power
The Peak of Authority,
And You Promise Us You will Not Depart from Your People
You Alone Are The Star that Guides Us
You Alone are the One True God Over All!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Many years ago, I shared this little story about people joining together to help one another. A branch that is cut off from the vine will not survive. Part of this story is transliterated the best I can into Yiddish accented "English". Just read it phonetically, and you will get the gist of the story. Here Goes:
Back in the early 80's, I was the Activities Director in a Kosher Nursing Home. Today's story came to me by way of a a very elderly lady named Bessie, who could still sew a fine seam on our big industrial Singer Sewing Machine in the rec room.
Back in the early Twentieth Century, Bessie worked with all her sisters, cousins, and aunties in a big sweatshop in the Garment District. There was no union, conditions were awful, and the ladies were paid for "piecework", meaning if they did not produce, they did not get paid. The way they kept track of production was with a "Bundle" of a dozen shirts, tied up with string and tagged with the worker's name. Fifteen of the ladies were from the same Jewish Community in the West End, and they all knew each other. All day long, they toiled to get their "Bundle" completed with the dozen shirts.
Ilsa, however, was a lost cause. She was probably only 15 years old, and couldn't stitch her way out of a paper bag. Sleeves were put in backwards, collars askew, and threads left hanging, such a mess! Ilsa helped support her family and would get instantly fired if the Big Boss got a load of her Bundle. The other ladies cared for her, but what could they do?
Then Bessie got an idea. She proposed that the other ladies in her corner of the shop each make one more shirt each day and put together a dozen for Ilsa. They weren't cheating the business, because the shop would still get the required dozen with Ilsa's name tag and make their profit. All the girls agreed to do this, even though it meant working harder, but there was still the matter of Ilsa's own incriminating Bundle sitting on her machine. There it sat, and the Big Boss was about to come in and collect the Bundles.
"Kvick!" Bessie urged, pointing at the pathetic Bundle of schmatties on Ilsa's machine. "TROW IT OUT DA TENT FLOOR VEENDOW!"
For years after that, my hubby and I repeated that line whenever we wanted to stop worrying about something. "TROW IT OUT DA TENT FLOOR VEENDOW!" was our private way of saying, "Don't worry. I got this."
When Jesus called himself The True Vine, and us "The Branches", He tells us we are all connected through Him. Ilsa was in danger of being "cut off" because she was unproductive. The Big Boss was well within his rights to fire her. Those of us who believe in the Free Market System are not kindly disposed to keeping employees in the workplace who don't contribute anything. Yet, Ilsa's coworkers loved her and didn't want her fired. Her family depended on her. Maybe with the help of her coworkers, she could learn how to stitch and become a better employee, but for the time being, the community of ladies bore her burden and carried her along.
Incidentally, there was another patient in the Nursing Home named "Elsie". Elsie was a bit younger than Bessie, and followed her everywhere. They were good friends, but I could see that Elsie practically worshiped the ground Bessie walked on. I wonder if she was the "Ilsa" of the long-ago sweatshop factory in the West End.
