There ya go again saying things that just ain’t true!!!

The Scriptures are a road map to Calvary. I believe this road map to be accurate and complete. I trust in the Scriptures to be Truth. I place my faith in the One True Messiah that shed His Blood for the remission of sins. I believe the prophecies contained in this Book. Both past and future.

I place my faith in Jesus Christ and none other.

It’s a travesty whenever a false doctrine corrupts the road map and places detour signs in front of Calvery.

Galatians 1:6-8

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Matthew 7:14

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

I’m inclined to fold my map and walk away, knowing some here have chosen that detour.

Matthew 15:14

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

You ask about faith in Scriptures and Grace?

If I had little faith in the Scriptures, I too would be inclined to take a detour and fall from Grace. If I were lost I could even end up in Rome.

So...ignore the inspired scripture that is “God-breathed” and instead...believe in the garbage the Roman Catholic church made up during the next 1000+ years to control people!

May God grant you repentance!

Evidently ebb tide has a fascination with sola scriptura. He’s posting daily to try to disprove it. This is usually the sign of being in the denial phase that his current belief has serious flaws.

The only thing that tradition would offer is how previous peoples applied the Scripture.

You have just posted the ‘justification’ for pappy Francis to invoke any and all doctrine …. I still do not understand the hate for Martin Luther…. And no I am not Lutheran, but I have yet to find him to be as bad as the instead of Jesus.. yet day in and day out you post Martin Luther complaints against Frankie.. Mass confusion.

Yet here you are with another useless thread designed to stir up emotions between Christians and Catholics.

Faith alone was all that was required of the Patriarchs. But roman catholicism would rather pervert the minds of their followers and have them kiss the ring of their pope.

Sola Scriptura

So obvious is the Truth that even a roman catholic should be able to interpret. It’s impossible that through the Law we find our Salvation, but through the shed Blood of our Lord and Saviour comes Life everlasting.

When the Author of Hebrews, who I believe to be Paul, addressed the Judaizers, he exhibited the Old Testament Patriarchs. Hebrews chapter 11 ( Known as the Hall of Faith chapter) Paul listed those that have successfully found that path to Salvation. Was it Law that granted them Life everlasting? Nay. It was Grace. Through Faith believing in Him that was sent to wash away our sins.

OLD TESTAMENT PATRIARCHS

Hebrews 11:4
King James Version
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Hebrews 11:5
King James Version
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Hebrews 11:7
King James Version
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Hebrews 11:8
King James Version
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Hebrews 11:11
King James Version
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

Hebrews 11:21
King James Version
21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.

Hebrews 11:22
King James Version
22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.

Hebrews 11:23
King James Version
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.

Hebrews 11:31
King James Version
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Hebrews 11:13
King James Version
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

If it isn’t written in Scripture, where is it written? Surely the tradition is written down somewhere? Otherwise it is secret except to a very small group of ppl. Sounds like something the other side would do...

This is the standard Catholic spiel presented to Protestants.

The Jews had their own tradition that they claimed came directly from God to Moses and was passed on via word of mouth. This today is Rabbinical Judaism. There is a small subset of Jews called Karaite that rely only on the OT for their faith. They reject the Talmud, Mishnah and all other writings that came after Malachi. Their reasoning is that since the Torah was lost during the seventy year captivity in Babylon that it would be highly unlikely that the very pagan Jews at the time had kept the oral law. This means Karaite Jews do not teach things like wearing Tefilin or having a Mezuzah on their doorposts. They instead take the most practical interpretation and see these commands of having the word of God on your minds and body and house to be symbolic. The RCC has done the same thing. They have taken clear commands that are meant to be symbolic and have slowly overtime changed them into physical rituals of outward piety.

You forgot the quote where infallible Pope Urban VI complained that his Vatican minions weren’t torturing his Cardinals well enough because he couldn’t hear the screams.

I can’t figure what part of this church example is represented in current day Catholic liturgy or how this tradition harmonizes with scripture.
Maybe you can help?

Catholics seem mighty testy about this whole Sola Scriptura Thing! All I know, as a Protestant, I know my Sins are Forgiven, I love my Savior, and he has through his Sacrifice given me the ability to live Above my sin, not in My Sin because for as St. Paul stated in:

II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

I know my seat in Heavan is secure, and I did not, and do not need the Traditions of the Catholic Church to make Heaven!

“I have the confidence of belonging to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.”

we aren’t to have confidence in a building or even a group of people or leaders of churches (ALL people are fallible, sinful, every single day of their lives)

we are to have confidence in the WORD OF GOD and that HE keeps HIS word.

Included in that Word of God is that by faith we are saved if we believe in Jesus as Savior. Then we can choose to follow Him as our Lord for the rest of our days.

By the Holy Spirit we are convicted (in mind and heart) of our errors/sins and we can choose to repent, or choose to remain in error/sin.
