Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 12
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna![d]”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[e]
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”[f]
16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

"See, this is getting us nowhere!" is the cynical remark of the Pharisees when seeing the Triumphant Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Something had to be done. How about betrayal, false witnesses, and a phony trial? Some things never change.
I remember that, as a child, I did not like "Palm Sunday". Now, you may ask why on earth would a child not like the Sunday where everybody got free palm branches, got to wave them around, and hear a great story about Jesus riding a donkey into town and being hailed as a King? Well, in my childish, self-righteous, holier-than-thou, way I disliked Palm Sunday, because I knew that in less than a week these same crowds would be yelling "CRUCIFY HIM!!!", and that really offended me. Of course, in some ways, I was being like Peter, who admonished Jesus against His coming death, not appreciating that it was all part of The Plan. All I could see was the hypocrisy, and it made me petulant and angry.
Thank Goodness Easter was only a week away! But, without Good Friday, there would be no Easter, and that is what I failed to understand in my little-girl-mind.
That's why I love 1 Corinthians 13:
"11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me."
I still have a tendency to get riled up over Injustice, and can't figure out why others don't see what I see and get riled up about it too. Or, maybe they DO see, but stay silent for fear of being ostracized or criticized. It's very frustrating. Day by Day, I need to go to the Lord with my concerns and let Him be the Judge in His Own Time...because His Timing is always perfect.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 128
A Song of Ascents.
1 Happy is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways.
2 You shall eat the fruit of the labour of your hands;
you shall be happy, and it shall go well with you.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Thus shall the man be blessed
who fears the Lord.
5 The Lord bless you from Zion.
May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel!

We live in evil days and what is called by some post-modernity and by others post-Christianity. Yet, Paul admonishes us to continue praying for local and national leaders, some of the very ones who exacerbate the travail which drags our nation down.
I Timothy 2:1-2
I urge, then,
first of all that petitions, prayers, intercession,
and thanksgiving be made for all people --
for kings, and all those in authority,
that we may live peaceful and quiet lives
in all godliness and holiness.
Heavenly Father, we join with many across this nation which you have so long blessed.
We were once a nation that held a hallowed,
a reverential regard for You, for Christ the Son of God, for the Spirit and for His inspired Holy Writings. This is no longer the case.
It tears at our hearts that this is no longer the case.
Yet, Father, there is a fraction of the people, a remnant, which turns to Thee for remedy, for righteous deliverance.
In Proverbs 14:34, we read,
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
In this simple verse, we see established a rule, or standard, composed of two alternatives. There is no middle ground.
In my home state of Texas, Father, a good man with strong values, Governor Abbott is trying everything he can to secure our border from a terrible onslaught of foreigners, those alienated from birth from our culture and values. Yet, he is opposed by twisted judges and attorneys seeking to circumvent, prevent, and obstruct his work. Grant, we appeal most ardently, grant him victory in the courts and those who inveigh against him.
"The Shakespeare of the Old Testament" is what the great wordsmith Isaiah has been called. In his times he faced a predicament quite similar to our own. This is what You inspired him to say:
Isaiah 30:1
"Woe to the rebellious children," says the Lord,
who take counsel but not of me
who devise plans but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin.
Lord God, it is said, most likely with some truth, that the President is being led by a cadre of progressives in the White House. We can certainly see that he is not guided by the Word, by the truth, or by inculcated values. We pray that you would bring to naught their advice and influence.
Lord, in past times You made a promise to Judah thru Solomon which patriotic Americans have adopted and embraced for ourselves:
2 Chronicles 7:14
“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Lord, it is true that a remnant is far from a whole nation. Nevertheless, we seek Your face in this time of trial; we humble ourselves and plead. The progressive "Children of Belial" have ensconced themselves throughout society in places of power. We do not know how You could undo the damage but we ask that You do so.
We pray in the name of the only mediator, Christ Jesus.
