Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 11
Jesus Raises Lazarus From the Dead
38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 “Take away the stone,” he said.
“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father Who Art in Heaven
Sometimes we feel so lost!
Nothing Makes Sense.
Good things happen for the wicked,
and bad things happen to decent people.
The people in power prove to be perfidious,
They Call Good "evil", and evil "good".
Our Entertainments and "News" Media, feed us lies and coarsen our culture,
Making things acceptable, that to our parents would have been intolerable.
We See Your Name, Your People, and Your Word insulted daily.
How do we find our way through this morass?
Father, You Are Our Guide.
You speak to us, and You lead us through.
Thank You, Lord.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Two months ago, the elder of my two younger brothers had a stroke. Just prior to that, my other brother had a mild heart attack. Since they live on the same street about 26 miles away, I ride the Harley to go and visit them. It's a nice ride if I stay on secondary roads and avoid the main highways. New England is quite pretty in late Summer. Both of my brothers are doing well with their rehab, and the elder one feels as though he may be ready to drive again soon, (The younger is already back on the Bike and taking short trips). Anyway, I am so glad that they are both recovering. As I said, they are younger than I am, but I seem to be the most healthy even though I'm in my seventies.
Some time ago, I shared a story about my Mom. It is an example of a miracle, when all the medical options seem to have run out:The memories of this event are so vivid that I can recount them exactly as they happened.
When I was about 14, I heard a big commotion in my parents' bedroom. I ran in to find Mom on the floor, and Dad holding her. I looked at Mom's face and one whole side of it looked as though it had melted. She couldn't speak and her whole side was paralyzed. Dad, who was trained in First Aid, knew instantly that Mom had suffered a stroke, even though she was only 39 years old. There was no 911 in those days, so he drove her to the hospital, leaving me in charge of the other five children.
The Hospital confirmed Dad's initial diagnosis, and commended him upon his quick response to the emergency. He came home extremely distressed, wondering if this was going to be the end of his life as he knew it. He took me aside and detailed the WORST CASE SCENARIO, that I would possibly end up being the caregiver for Mom and my five younger siblings. Meanwhile. Mom lay in a hospital bed with aphasia and hemiparesis, and had a silent conversation with God.
"I can't be paralyzed!" she prayed."I got SIX KIDS! WHO'S gonna take care of them? I have to go HOME! They NEED me!"
Then she bargained. "Lord, if You get me through this, I'll be the best mother ever. I will teach my kids to believe in You, and make You the center of our lives."
A week later, Mom came home, after not getting any Therapy in the hospital, started just being "Mom" again, but she kept her promise and brought us up in the Christian Faith.
Years later, Mom had an MRI of her brain to diagnose something unrelated, and she remarked to the doctor that she had a stroke when she was 39. The doctor said that was impossible because there was no lesion or scar on the brain which would indicate that a stroke had taken place. He insisted that Mom never had a stroke, but Mom knew better. She boldly told the doctor her story, and he shrugged and said:
"Well, I guess that was a MIRACLE."
Although "Bargaining With God" is not recommended , (He IS, after all, Omniscient!), there are a few instances in which great men and women of God bargained with Him and did receive a miracle. Such giants of Faith like Abraham, Moses, Hannah (Samuel's Mom) and others are recorded in Scripture as bargaining. While God had the Power to zot them instantly for their impudence, He, instead, extended His Hand of Mercy.
In the Story of the Raising of Lazarus, we see a lot of impudence. Conversations like:
"If You had come sooner, he wouldn't have died..."
or:
“by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
would have tried my patience, but thank God I'm NOT God.
My humble opinion is that God shows us these stories with real people acting very human, with all our impatience, impudence, and unbelief, in order to show His LOVE. It's hard to imagine an Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent God to also be All Loving, but that's because we humans aren't.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 9
To the leader: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David.
1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
2 I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
3 When my enemies turned back,
they stumbled and perished before you.
4 For you have maintained my just cause;
you have sat on the throne giving righteous judgement.
5 You have rebuked the nations, you have destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
6 The enemies have vanished in everlasting ruins;
their cities you have rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.
7 But the Lord sits enthroned for ever,
he has established his throne for judgement.
8 He judges the world with righteousness;
he judges the peoples with equity.
9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
Declare his deeds among the peoples.
12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them;
he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13 Be gracious to me, O Lord.
See what I suffer from those who hate me;
you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death,
14 so that I may recount all your praises,
and, in the gates of daughter Zion,
rejoice in your deliverance.
15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made;
in the net that they hid has their own foot been caught.
16 The Lord has made himself known, he has executed judgement;
the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.
Higgaion. Selah
17 The wicked shall depart to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
nor the hope of the poor perish for ever.
19 Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail;
let the nations be judged before you.
20 Put them in fear, O Lord;
let the nations know that they are only human.
Selah
