Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 9
Spiritual Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
39 Jesus said,[a] “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Our God
We Love Your Because You First Loved Us!
You Are My Refuge and My Strength.
When all the pillars of my "Comfort Zone" are crumbling,
You Reach Out
And Become My Refuge,
My Hiding Place,
My Stronghold.
Let Us Love You
With Our Whole Heart,
Our Whole Soul,
Our Whole Mind,
And Our Whole Strength!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I have shared this story before, mostly when people ask me where I was on 9/11/01, when we first heard of the attack on our Country on that horrible day. It illustrates a kind of "spiritual blindness" that all of us experience at one time or another.
It was a beautiful, sunny Tuesday morning in September, and the "Bug Guy" was busy spraying the inside perimeter of my house in Florida. I had a standing contract for preventive treatment the second Tuesday of every month. The Bug Guy had been the same one for months, and was very polite and friendly. He was a recent immigrant from Pakistan. I was watching Court TV, and remember that it was about a policeman who allegedly murdered his wife. It was a big case at the time, and quite fascinating.
Suddenly, the program was interrupted with a bulletin that a jet plane had crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. Court TV immediately switched to the scene in New York and the Bug Guy and I watched in horror as the second plane went into the North Tower.
As the second plane went in, the Bug Guy rolled his eyes and said in his thick Pakistani accent:
"WHY DO THESE GUYS THINK THAT THEY ARE DOING THIS FOR GOD?"
I stared at him, and he hastily shut his mouth and continued spraying. It was then that I knew that this attack was all about Islamic Terrorists.
The News Analysts took a lot longer to figure it out. For hours they agonized, "who could have done this?" or "Why were we targeted?" or "What did we do to deserve this?" They were "spiritually blind" about the whole thing, and could not figure out any motivation. But The Bug Guy, having been raised in Pakistan, knew right away. The following month, I was sent a new "Bug Guy", an American, to spray my house.
It was interesting that the News Commentators, Politicians, Teachers, Pundits, even The President of the USA, were spiritually blind concerning "The Religion of Peace," but the Bug Guy figured it out right away.
My friend Lil (the one who died in the helicopter), spent a few years as a guide in the preserved concentration camp at Auschwitz. (Honestly, I can't imagine doing that, but Lil was a very special woman). She took small groups around the huge complex, explaining the place to people who were interested. One of the most common questions Lil was asked was:
"How could people not KNOW this was happening?
Lil told me that the place was enormous, and there was absolutely no way to hide it. I do know that there were reports sent to our own government that this was going on, but nothing was done about it. To this day, people struggle with the idea that this went on right in plain sight, but most people were blind to it.
We are, at present, embroiled in an immense trauma that has occurred in our 50th State. A beautiful, historic town in the USA has been wiped out. There are still hundreds of missing children and unidentified dead. At first, it was blamed on "Global Warming", "Invasive Grasses" and Power Lines. A hurricane 500 miles away was thrown into the mix. But then, little things started to leak out about incredible incompetence in the systems that were put in place to protect the people, such as Police, Fire Departments, Electric Companies, Land and Water Management, and Traffic Controls. In any instance like this, when an entire town is wiped out, it would be all over the news. Huge Fundraising Concerts would ensue, Donation Buckets would appear at every grocery checkout, people would be mobilized to help out, but I'm not seeing that happen. The few that suggest that there may be a Land Grab involved, and that maybe the fire was intentional, are labeled as "Right Wing Wackos" or "Conspiracy Nuts", and dismissed. Meanwhile, a huge black fence, over 10 feet high and many miles long, has been erected and a no-fly zone set up over the site of the tragedy.
So, why can't some people see what others don't see? Why are some people Spiritually Blind, when others, who discern an evil agenda are called "Conspiracy Nuts"? I have a theory. (and it's only a theory!)
One of the biggest tasks of "Religion" is to explain the "Problem of Evil". If one is a halfway decent person, it's hard to imagine that evil can exist the way it does. In fact, "Kindness" is considered a great Virtue. Biblically Literate People know that Kindness is a Fruit of the Holy Spirit, but secular kindness can be a form of denial. It is the notion that people are basically GOOD, and would NEVER do intentional evil. Secular kindness refuses to call out sin for what it is, does not defend the cause that is just, and is likely to dismiss or persecute those who DO. These are people who allow oppression and deny freedom if "It's For Your Own Good!" To my way of thinking, these folks, who deny reality for the sake of being "kind", are catalysts for the truly evil people to flourish.
Once again, we see the concept in John's Gospel of the Hypostasis. Jesus is:
Full of Grace and Truth,
Justice and Mercy,
Fully God and Fully Man,
The Lamb and the Shepherd,
The High Priest and the Sacrifice,
The King of Kings and the Suffering Servant,
Without Sin, yet became Sin for our sake.
Let Us Be Kind, but not Blind.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 91
1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,*
2 will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.’
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence;
4 he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
or the arrow that flies by day,
6 or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
or the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge,*
the Most High your dwelling-place,
10 no evil shall befall you,
no scourge come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.
14 Those who love me, I will deliver;
I will protect those who know my name.
15 When they call to me, I will answer them;
I will be with them in trouble,
I will rescue them and honour them.
16 With long life I will satisfy them,
and show them my salvation.
