I catch the Rogers and Kelfer on Rejoice Radio and along with the music it's become a staple in my household, especially since Long Covid became a daily part of life.
Interesting take on this.
FTR--I was NOT thinking of Catholicism AT ALL while reading this. I WAS thinking of several Protestant sects.
We’ll wait patiently for you to date set it for us I supposed since you’re post sounds coded.
RC Sproul is one of the worst offenders of Preterism.
Catholics fall into the trap too along with other Univeralists.
I attended a Preterist church for a while, having no notion of what Preterism was. No only do they reject future prophecies, they reject Old Testament prophecies that prophesied of Christ’s first coming. Psalm 22 clearly speaks of Christ, not the Preterist pastor told me he knows of no one who believes that. I left.
It’s scary what kind of doctrines are out there that any one of us could easily fall into.
By posting this, I’m not taking a swipe at those who adhere to it - but rather trying to get some unsuspecting folks to think of the complexity of Biblical Prophecy and how much is still left to be fulfilled. It easily changes ones outlook on your view of life, your work for the Lord, and how little time we really have left (all of us).
Really glad to hear The Spirit spoke to you and you did what you needed to to move on.
Bless you for sharing this!
“date set it “
After you’ve studied a bit more you’ll find that “ But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”
So trying to set dates would be fruitless.
But “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;”
And then....
“For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
You’ll get it if you watch......
Might I suggest that you reread Galatians..
And might I suggest that the “rapture” and the 2nd coming are the same event ?
Just food for thought.
Considering Jesus’ warnings in Matt. 24 about being deceived and Peter’s warnings about false teachers rising up within the church at the time of the end, discernment seems like it will be in short supply but the commodity most needed by believers as we accelerate to the close of the Age. As Keith Green sang regarding Satan, “I’m gonna make it dark before the dawn, cause no one believes in me anymore.” He’s going to give it his best shot - but it won’t stop Christ’s return! Trim your lamps, watch and pray and be faithful unto death. Jesus promised a rich reward!
Get the time frame right, and the whole New Testament pops into vivid focus and makes sense. Get the time frame wrong, and you might well spiral into immediate irrelevance, and a much lower quality of life.
The state-of-the-art best eschatology, postmillennialism, usually includes some form of preterism. Most of the prophecies in the Olivet Discourse, and John's more detailed retelling of that discourse in prophetic (visual, right-brain) imagery, refers to the Jewish War, which lasted 7 years, started on schedule 40 years after Jesus pronounced God's pending judgment upon "this generation," and kicked the feet out from under the Kingdom of God's two chief enemies -- Rome, and apostate Israel.
Get the time frame right, and you can even explain Apocalypse to Turkish Muslims in a way that makes sense.

I was gonna say the same thing. No where in the article does it mentioned Catholicism does it?
If the last 2,000 years is an example of Christ’s 1,000 year reign on earth, I am not impressed.
Scripture indicates a better situation that that.
Chuck Swindoll is worth listening to, also.
Seriously, get over yourself.
Catholicism was not mentioned and here you are taking offense where none was given.
Catholics need to stop being such victims.
Preterism has its adherents among the Theonomist faction within Presbyterianism, such as Gary North, Rousas Rushdoony, etc. R.C. Sproul was not a theonomist but has supported this view in a book he wrote about 20 years ago. Outside the Theonomists, the Churches of Christ have some members who hold to a preterist position, despite being anti-Calvinist. They are something of an outlier among low church Protestants, such as Baptists, Pentecostal, and Bible church believers, who are premillennial and dispensational, for the most part.
Just teasing, we’re going to the same heaven IMO.
A little vegetable Joke...
