Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 8

Dispute Over Whose Children Jesus’ Opponents Are

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[b]”

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.

“If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would[c] do what Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the works of your own father.”

“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

Who Art in Heaven
All Praise, Honor,Glory and Worship to Your Holy Name!
We Ask that You become an Impenetrable Barrier
Against the Forces of Evil
Around Us,

Around Our Nation,
And Around Our Friends and Allies.

And Guard Our Minds from The Viruses and Worms
that invade and infect.
Keep us in Perfect Peace,
With Our Minds Steadfastly Focused upon You.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

In His many encounters with the Pharisees, Jesus nearly always chastised them for their devotion to the institution of "Religion" rather than the Inner Light of Faith. Jesus wasn't against religion, but He was against having all the trappings of religion without an intimate relationship with God. It is no coincidence that the most magnificent Art in the History of Humanity is Art that is done in the service of Religion. From Cave Paintings to the Sistine Chapel, the Arts have been devoted to God (or gods), and it is only in recent centuries that secular subjects have been portrayed. Of course the "Decorative Arts" have always flourished, because we all like to have nice things. Even the spoons in peasant households were carved and decorated, and even the poorest folk embroidered their clothing.

The problem arises when the Art becomes more important than the Person to Whom the Art is dedicated. The same can be said about Religious Observances and the Law, both of which are good and necessary things. They remain good and necessary only until they become a substitute for Faith and Relationship. Then they become stumbling blocks. Perfect, meticulous religious observance can easily turn into Pride and Haughtiness.

Some Five years ago, I wrote this commentary on the Story of Mary and Martha. One would not think there is any connection with that lovely domestic story about hospitality, but it really does. Think of Martha as representing the Law, and Mary representing Grace, as you read this account:

I think we all know someone like Martha in our lifetimes. There is nothing "bad" about Martha. She is competent, hospitable, an excellent cook, and keeps a tidy home. It is most likely a pleasure to visit with her, as one will be well-fed, pampered, and treated well. Martha's house is a delight. The way she decorates using common materials in clever ways is astounding! Who knew that some old oak planks ripped from a ruined barn could make such an adorable coffee table? The way she uses found objects and industrial junk, combined with the ancient principles of feng shui, enhanced by her artistic sense and good taste, makes her home fit for the pages of an elite decorating magazine. And her cooking! The exotic cuisines of the world are merely the toolbox for her creativity! Seared Ahi with Schiracha sauce on a flax-seed taco served with Alaskan Crab legs, filet Mignon Au Jus, garnished with Herbs de Provence, and Mulligatawny Soup from India. And that's just the appetizer.

As you lounge on the hand embroidered pillows from Romania, dig your toes into the plush Persian Carpet (that isn't really from Persia, but hand-knotted by Martha herself!), and savor the choice of desserts (you have opted for the creme brulet which was ignited before your very eyes) you notice that somebody is missing from the party. Where is our hostess?

A quick search finds her in the kitchen, slaving over the next course, a pile of dirty pots and pans piling up in the sink, and a petulant expression on her face. She is grumbling about all the work she is doing and how nobody appreciates her! Well, we DO appreciate her, and that's why we would rather she come into the perfect living room and hang out with us.

Across town is a woman who is not nearly as creative or efficient as Martha. her home is neat and clean, but rather ordinary in comparison. But she hears you pull up outside and stops what she is doing to invite you in. She makes some coffee, digs something out of the fridge to share, and then hangs on your every word as you tell her what's been going on in your life.

Now tell me. Who would YOU rather visit?

I have often shared the Story of my visit to The Temple Mount in Jerusalem. At that time, it was permitted for Non-Muslims to go into The Dome of The Rock, which contains the bedrock of Mount Moriah. This spot is holy to Christians and Jews, even though it is encased in a Muslim building. However, I couldn't go through the door! It seemed to be blocked by an invisible force field. Other people were walking in and out, but I couldn't do it. I realized that it was a spiritual force, and NOT a good one. I have discerned that spirit on two other occasions, and I know what it is. I will share it in another post.

That being said, The Dome of the Rock is an exquisite building. It's covered in blue mosaic tiles and its dome is clad in gold. It dominates the Temple Mount in every photo. But, once again, we have "Art" without "Faith", and "Religion" without "Relationship".

(Or maybe there was relationship, but with the WRONG spirit.)

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 17

A Prayer of David.

1 Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry;
give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit.
2 From you let my vindication come;
let your eyes see the right.

3 If you try my heart, if you visit me by night,
if you test me, you will find no wickedness in me;
my mouth does not transgress.
4 As for what others do, by the word of your lips
I have avoided the ways of the violent.
5 My steps have held fast to your paths;
my feet have not slipped.

6 I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
incline your ear to me, hear my words.
7 Wondrously show your steadfast love,
O saviour of those who seek refuge
from their adversaries at your right hand.

8 Guard me as the apple of the eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings,
9 from the wicked who despoil me,
my deadly enemies who surround me.
10 They close their hearts to pity;
with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
11 They track me down;* now they surround me;
they set their eyes to cast me to the ground.
12 They are like a lion eager to tear,
like a young lion lurking in ambush.

13 Rise up, O Lord, confront them, overthrow them!
By your sword deliver my life from the wicked,
14 from mortals—by your hand, O Lord—
from mortals whose portion in life is in this world.
May their bellies be filled with what you have stored up for them;
may their children have more than enough;
may they leave something over to their little ones.

15 As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness.

Amen. Have you ever anointed doorposts with oil to control what spirits go in?

Got the Holy Spirit in my home. The demons know they are not allowed.

But anointing with oil sounds like a good idea, accompanied by prayer, of course.

That invisible force you felt was either (1) the Holy Spirit prompting you not to go in there, or (2) dark spirits who were disturbed by the Holy Spirit within you.

It was a dark spirit of anti semitsm. I also felt it in the mosque at the Cave of Machpela, and on a fragment of the gate that had been at Dachau. (in a museum).

I am not afraid of these things, because I know that God wouldn't give me the gift of discernment in order to terrorize me. All of His gifts are good, and useful for building up the Body of Christ. It is a strange gift because it is not as exciting as a gift of healing or prophecy, but it does give me some great stories to share with you all. People tell me that these stories are helpful to them, so it appears that the gift is going to good use.

Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

Wasn’t it your mother (some relative or friend) who did not like the Cosbey Show because something felt off. And we found out later about the scandals.
