Imagine a future when earth’s inhabitants are not humans, but cyborgs—robotlike beings with both biological and mechanical components. With exosuits for added strength, cybernetic arms and legs, surgically-implanted earbuds for advanced hearing, bionic eyes for X-ray and infrared vision, and digitally-enhanced brains, these “superbots” think and act at lightning speed. Nanobots inside their bodies work continually to maintain and repair organs and tissues. Equally impressive are their “organic parts,” which have been genetically engineered for health.

Is this making of "people" going to be okay with the Heavens? God implants a soul and conscience.. man cannot do that. so what are they making?
I am guessing whoever wrote this is against medicine in general, but will run to the nearest doctor when they get sick.
Transhumanism is part of the singularity of combining human, animal, and technology in an attempt to create a superior human.
I, however, will just go to the river bank to die.
So many of the issues we suffer today are because everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) wants to be a God among men. It’s one reason why super hero movies are popular. And it means that everyone can live by their own moral code (remember Satan told Eve - “You will be like God, knowing good and evil.”, only of course, he lied (surprise)).
I don’t know but it sort of reminds me of the old intro to the six million dollar man.
An abomination!
It’s not clear why one would want to retain any of the biological components.
I think that Satan was telling the truth about Eve now knowing good and evil. It was the part about “surely you won’t die” that he lied about. Oh - and now perhaps I see your point, that she would “be like God” (yes, a lie).
Thankfully, due to God’s grace we DO die. So that we don’t have to live forever in this fallen world.
I’m not sure if I ever thought about it before - but the part about “knowing” good and evil. I wonder if the word there is similar to the idea of “knowing” your wife, e.g. having sex. Being intimate with evil and “all in”, rather than just having some knowledge of it.
I’m not sure that cyborgs would be evil, just as having a pace-maker installed is not evil in my mind. I know there is a difference in “playing God” and medical advances, just not sure where it is.
Somewhere between putting a band-aid on a cut and giving a person treatments in an attempt to change their sex.

There is nothing new under the sun. Normie or normalized?
“robotlike beings with both biological and mechanical components”
That ship has sailed with artificial hearts etc. It is easy to see where this is heading. humans will be a mix of natural and artificial organs. That is of less concern to me than pure androids.
We use technology to save babies who otherwise could not survive and add decades to the lives of many who would die in times past. Anyone getting sanctimonious about this issuebetter not have a stent or pacemaker.
It’s both more, and less than that.
Think of the corrective surgeries we already have. Lasik. Joint replacement. Hearing aids. Etc...
As our technology evolves... So can we. Naturally.
We’ve all seen entirely too many dystopian movies. Good for caution... But... like The China Syndrome... can be more of a hinderance to technological advancement than reality.
Thank you!
“cybernetics (the replacement of biological body parts with biomechanical devices).”
“Come into my chamber my Prince Charming and I’ll make you into a new man!”
You’re right, but I think that was within my comments when it comes to technology and animals in order to create a better human. A stronger human, faster human, more durable, etc.
We’re all stronger, faster, healthier, and up until recently... living longer than at any other time in recorded history.
I’m not disagreeing that some people want to push it faster than it should naturally progress. Nor am I disagreeing that there are hazards, both ethical and biological, to over come.
I guess we’ll see. It is a VERY interesting topic to me though.
