Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 24

The Ascension of Jesus

50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God
Hallowed Be Your Most Holy and Sacred Name,
How we love You,
With Our Whole Heart
Our Whole Soul
Our Whole Mind
And Our Whole Strength!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise
Awesome in Power
And Wonderful Beyond Measure!
How Magnificent that You have Chosen to Manifest Yourself
In Such Magnificent Ways
To Call us to Your Purpose
What a Privilege and Honor to be Touched By You!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Lately, I've been "binge-watching" videos of remote tribal people watching movies and hearing Rock Music for the first time in their lives. There are several different channels doing these videos, and some of them are hilarious. Others are quite thought-provoking, as we see the reactions to everything from Led Zeppelin, to the Movie "Titanic", to a Three Stooges short. Last night, I watched some Pashtun (Pakistan) Tribesmen react to a Christmas celebration. They had no idea what "Christmas" was so the narrator explained to them that it was a "Christian Holiday that celebrated the birth of the Prophet Issa(Jesus)". Oh, OK. They understood that. Then the music began. It was from the Greek Orthodox tradition, so there were no instruments, only singing. The big, turbaned, bearded, Muslim men closed their eyes and thoroughly enjoyed the music. Two of the three men even lifted up their hands as if in prayer. When the music ended, they all raved about the music, and said it put "Peace in their hearts".

I felt a little squeamish watching this, because these men are from the same Tribes that have been at war with Christianity and America for over twenty years. Are these videos a hoax engineered to entrap innocent people into thinking that "we are all the same", that "all cultures are equal" and other "Kumbayah" kind of sentiments? Or were these men genuinely touched spiritually, and that this was the first step on their road to Salvation?

Anyone who has read this Column for any length of time knows that, before 1981 when I came to Faith in Jesus, that many little things happened in the preceding years to prepare my heart. Whether it was a woman giving me a Pocket KJV New Testament on the Green Line Trolley in Kenmore Square, or a Biker friend's witness, or any number of other "coinkidinks" over the years, it all came to a head on October 18th 1981, when I repented of my sin and placed my Faith in Jesus. So who knows?

Today we conclude the Gospel of Luke, but it isn't over. Dr. Luke wrote another Book, called The Acts of the Apostles. Like Luke's Gospel, it is written as a memoir to a friend named "Theophilus". That's a Greek name which means "Lover of God". Theophilus may have been a real person, or maybe Luke was writing to you and me. When we get to Acts, you will see the same attention to detail and clarity of style that is present in Luke's Gospel. Acts picks up right where Luke's Gospel ends, with the Ascension of Jesus into heaven.

Dr. Luke states at the beginning of both of his books that he has put together a treatise of "Convincing Proofs" that show that Jesus was MUCH more than just a Prophet. Perhaps if our tribal friends were presented with The Book of Luke in Pashtun, it would make all the difference.

You will have to wait a bit before we look at Luke's Book of Acts, because tomorrow, we begin the most "Theological" Gospel of all, The Book of John. While Matthew and Luke start their Books with the Birth of Jesus, John starts his with Eternity Past.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 35

Of David.

1 Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me!
2 Take hold of shield and buckler,
and rise up to help me!
3 Draw the spear and javelin
against my pursuers;
say to my soul,
‘I am your salvation.’

4 Let them be put to shame and dishonour
who seek after my life.
Let them be turned back and confounded
who devise evil against me.
5 Let them be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them on.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.

7 For without cause they hid their net* for me;
without cause they dug a pit* for my life.
8 Let ruin come on them unawares.
And let the net that they hid ensnare them;
let them fall in it—to their ruin.

9 Then my soul shall rejoice in the Lord,
exulting in his deliverance.
10 All my bones shall say,
‘O Lord, who is like you?
You deliver the weak
from those too strong for them,
the weak and needy from those who despoil them.’

11 Malicious witnesses rise up;
they ask me about things I do not know.
12 They repay me evil for good;
my soul is forlorn.
13 But as for me, when they were sick,
I wore sackcloth;
I afflicted myself with fasting.
I prayed with head bowed* on my bosom,
14 as though I grieved for a friend or a brother;
I went about as one who laments for a mother,
bowed down and in mourning.

15 But at my stumbling they gathered in glee,
they gathered together against me;
ruffians whom I did not know
tore at me without ceasing;
16 they impiously mocked more and more,*
gnashing at me with their teeth.

17 How long, O Lord, will you look on?
Rescue me from their ravages,
my life from the lions!
18 Then I will thank you in the great congregation;
in the mighty throng I will praise you.

19 Do not let my treacherous enemies rejoice over me,
or those who hate me without cause wink the eye.
20 For they do not speak peace,
but they conceive deceitful words
against those who are quiet in the land.
21 They open wide their mouths against me;
they say, ‘Aha, Aha,
our eyes have seen it.’

22 You have seen, O Lord; do not be silent!
O Lord, do not be far from me!
23 Wake up! Bestir yourself for my defense,
for my cause, my God and my Lord!
24 Vindicate me, O Lord, my God,
according to your righteousness,
and do not let them rejoice over me.
25 Do not let them say to themselves,
‘Aha, we have our heart’s desire.’
Do not let them say, ‘We have swallowed you* up.’

26 Let all those who rejoice at my calamity
be put to shame and confusion;
let those who exalt themselves against me
be clothed with shame and dishonor.

27 Let those who desire my vindication
shout for joy and be glad,
and say evermore,
‘Great is the Lord,
who delights in the welfare of his servant.’
28 Then my tongue shall tell of your righteousness
and of your praise all day long.

Amen, left that other site

Many have criticized Christmas as a Christian holiday, becoming so commercial and not commanded to celebrate in the Bible.

But so many are touched by it and the music as it is a vehicle to reach people.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
