Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 24
On the Road to Emmaus
13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16 but they were kept from recognizing him.
17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”
They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19 “What things?” he asked.
“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”
25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
We Come before You in Humility
For we know That You Are the One True Shepherd,
And that we stray all the time!
Create in me a clean heart, Oh Lord
And renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not from Thy Presence
And do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me.
let me never grieve Your Holy Spirit
With attitudes of haughtiness or presumption
But keep me in Your Tender Care always
That I may dwell with You Forever.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I was working in a music store in Boca Raton when a handsome bald man came into the shop and began to play the drums. He was so good that I chose a bass, took it down off the wall and began to play with him. The boss gave me an ugly look from behind the counter and I sheepishly replaced the bass on the wall and just listened to the drummer for a while. Afterwards, I complimented him on his playing. The following is the conversation as I remember it (it was sixteen years ago):
Me: You are an awesome drummer! I wish I could play like that.
Him: My Old Man taught me when I was ten. I wish MY son would listen to me. He keeps insisting on doing it backwards.
Me: Maybe he needs a more structured environment to learn, like a studio or classroom. We have an excellent drum teacher here at the store.
Him: I might just do that. I've been so busy lately, because the band is planning a reunion, and I'm doing the drums since my Old Man died. He taught me everything I know, so the gig will be easy. I hope Robert can still sing all the high notes. He's not so young anymore.
Me: I can help him. I'm a Vocal Coach.
Him: Oh no...he's in ENGLAND.
Nevertheless, I demonstrated a few breathing exercises to him. After he left the store, the Boss gave me a hard time for hobnobbing with the customer. I couldn't understand the attitude, because the man HAD signed the kid up for lessons. I had just gained a customer and a friend. What was the boss's PROBLEM?
Soon the boy, who was very nice, started taking lessons in the store and did well. Later that year, the drummer's band had their reunion, and Robert, the Lead Vocalist, did very well, even on the high notes. The reunion was in England, but I saw it on video, as it was watched all over the world.
Maybe he did my exercises. Maybe not. I am sure he had his own Vocal Coach. The Lead Singer was Robert Plant, and the Drummer was the man I met in the store, Jason, son of the original drummer, John Bonham. The band, of course, was Led Zeppelin.
If I had known at the time that Jason was THAT "Jason", I probably would have hid in the back of the store after disgracing myself on the bass!
I once attended a service in a Megachurch in Florida where the Preacher lambasted Cleopas and his companion for not recognizing Jesus. He also preached that, since Cleopas is never mentioned again in the New Testament, that he probably "fell away" from the faith. I was infuriated by this, but since I was someone's guest, held my tongue until after the service. When I finally did bring it up, my host was annoyed with me for questioning his pastor. Oh well, Water Under the Bridge. Needless to say, I did not attend that church again. After all this, the Biker Ministry came up, and I ended up being the Minister of Music, playing...you guessed it...Bass. My drummer had a drum kit as big as Led Zeppelin's, except for the GONG in the back. Now I live in the town that makes those Gongs.
As Cleopas and his companion found out, in that little inn on the Road to Emmaus, Life can be pretty strange at times. They never expected to see Jesus on the road with them, and the Bible hints that there was actual Divine Intervention to keep them from recognizing Him right away. Yet, they said, "Didn't our hearts burn within us as He explained the Scriptures to us?"
Upon the Breaking of Bread, their eyes were opened.
That's all Dr. Luke, the only one to relate this story, tells us. There is nothing to indicate that Cleopas "fell away". Sometimes I wonder, if, among the 15,000 people attending this Easter Service in the huge Hockey Arena on the edge of the Everglades, if anyone else felt the same about Cleopas as I did. Maybe I'm just weird. Or as St. Paul would say, "Peculiar".
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 5
To the leader: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
1 Give ear to my words, O Lord;
give heed to my sighing.
2 Listen to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.
4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil will not sojourn with you.
5 The boastful will not stand before your eyes;
you hate all evildoers.
6 You destroy those who speak lies;
the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.
7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house,
I will bow down towards your holy temple
in awe of you.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make your way straight before me.
9 For there is no truth in their mouths;
their hearts are destruction;
their throats are open graves;
they flatter with their tongues.
10 Make them bear their guilt, O God;
let them fall by their own counsels;
because of their many transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
so that those who love your name may exult in you.
12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover them with favour as with a shield.

Heavenly Father,
May all believers in Christ and hold You reverently in their hearts. And may we, as citizens and patriots, witness the defeat of evil progressivism. Besieged on all sides by cultural depravity we look forward to that time of the Rapture and pray that You would hasten that day.
We thank you that a righteous judge prevailed over the wicked schemes of our weaponized Dept of Justice and pray that we might begin to see more of the same.
Lord, help us be thoughtful students of the Word. May the Spirit of God plant the Biblical truths in our hearts so that we have a light for our paths.
Thank you for Thy wonderful creation and for the blessed Atonement of Christ.
-— Amen
