Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 23
The Crucifixion of Jesus
26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 Then
“‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”
and to the hills, “Cover us!”’[b]
31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”
36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”
38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews.
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[d]”
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Our Father,
Praise and Glory To Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are The One True God!
You Are the True and Faithful Witness,
Our Commander in Chief
Our Leader
Our One and Only God.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

For many years, the symbol of the State of New Hampshire was a rock formation called The Old Man of the Mountain. Since it had been formed during the Ice Age, it was thought to have stood for over 15,000 years. The Native People had some lovely legends about how the "face" got there, involving star-crossed lovers and faithful vigilance. It is pictured on New Hampshire license plates, and is recognizable all over the world. I remember seeing it many times from my motorcycle on trips up to Laconia and Lincoln for Bike Rallies. In 2003, while I was living in Florida, the whole rock formation fell off the mountain. The people of New England mourned the loss of this iconic landmark, and I felt the wave of sadness all the way down Rt. 95 to Ft. Lauderdale. Who knew that a rock formation could cause such emotion?
Right outside the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem is a busy bus station. The smell of Diesel and the rumbling of idling engines fill the air. Up close, all you can see are buses and a wall of rock behind them. However, from across the street, up on the wall over the Damascus Gate, the rocks form the face of a Skull. It is a startling view, and I remember hiking the wall and being stopped short by the sight. Appropriately situated by the side of the road, the bus station would have been a perfect spot for the Romans to execute their prisoners. Crucifixion was a deterrent as well as a punishment. It was not done in secret. Since the rock formation resembled a skull, the name of the place reflected that. "Calvary" comes from the Latin word "calvarus" which means "skull". "Golgotha" is Aramaic for the same thing. Like The Old Man of the Mountain, the rocks at the bus station have looked like that for a long, long time. Also, like the Old Man, parts of the Skull are starting to crumble. There is controversy to this day as to where the actual location of Calvary was, but both sites, (The Garden Tomb and The Church of the Holy Sepulcher) are worth the visit. No matter which place is the actual spot, the vision of Skull Rock from the top of the wall is a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
The Four Gospels all testify to the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus. Scriptures tell us we only need two witnesses to establish a matter, and here we have twice as many as required. But, if that's not enough, there's always the view of the bus station from the top of the Damascus Gate.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 48
A Song. A Psalm of the Korahites.
1 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God.
His holy mountain, 2beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
3 Within its citadels God
has shown himself a sure defence.
4 Then the kings assembled,
they came on together.
5 As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic, they took to flight;
6 trembling took hold of them there,
pains as of a woman in labour,
7 as when an east wind shatters
the ships of Tarshish.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in the city of our God,
which God establishes for ever.
Selah
9 We ponder your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
10 Your name, O God, like your praise,
reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with victory.
11 Let Mount Zion be glad,
let the towns* of Judah rejoice
because of your judgements.
12 Walk about Zion, go all around it,
count its towers,
13 consider well its ramparts;
go through its citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
14 that this is God,
our God for ever and ever.
He will be our guide for ever.
