Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 22
The Guards Mock Jesus
63 The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him. 64 They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” 65 And they said many other insulting things to him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God and Everlasting Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Wonderful! Counselor!
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

A Fashion Statement among people who ride motorcycles is a Black T-Shirt with a Harley-Davidson logo on the back, the name of the Harley Dealership where it was purchased, and the city where the Dealership is located. I have ones from LA, Nassau Bahamas, Honolulu, Madrid Spain, and, of course, Boston. I had many more from all of my road trips, but they eventually got so ratty and threadbare that they went to the rag bag. Some people have actually made quilts out of them, because the logos are all approximately the same size, and fit into a nice twelve inch block. Sometimes they end up in the Thrift Store, and are easy to find amid the racks of used T-Shirts, because they are BLACK.
Originally, only Bikers wore these shirts. If a shirt had the logo of a specific club on it, one didn't wear it UNLESS one were a member or "supporter" of the club. A biker would also only wear shirts from Dealerships he had actually visited on a Road Trip. It was considered uncool to wear a shirt if one didn't actually ride.
I have, more than once, of approached a stranger who was wearing a Harley shirt and asked him what he rides. A real biker loves to talk about his bike. Now, with the advent of smart phones, bikers pull up pictures of their ride and share them as if they are his grandchildren. (I actually found myself doing that at Open Mike the other night. Yes. I have pictures of Blue, my 93FXR, in my phone!)
Sometimes, though, the person doesn't ride, doesn't have a bike, and doesn't carry pictures in his phone. Then a person, when asked, kind of shuffles his feet and mumbles, "I don't ride. I just wear the T-Shirt."
I wear the T-Shirt, but I have been riding for over a half century. I've ridden the entire Eastern Seaboard, the Hana Road on Maui, the Florida Keys, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have done nine Rolling Thunders, Laconia, Daytona, and more Charity Runs than I can count.(Toys for Tots, St. Jude, Ronald McDonald House, etc) I am QUALIFIED to wear the T-Shirt. I've earned it. But, it doesn't really matter what a person wears on the outside. It's what's inside that counts.
Today's brief but extremely painful Scripture Passage concerns articles of "clothing" that indicate Royalty. A Crown, a Royal Robe, and a Scepter. The Roman Soldiers are given leave to have a little "fun" with their prisoner before He goes to trial. Although the Soldiers are ignorant of Hebrew Theology and Prophecy, they somehow found out that the charges against Jesus had something to do with claiming to be a "King". They fashion a "Crown" for Him, made of huge, sharp, thorns. Plants that produce these kind of thorns are common in the harsh, Middle-Eastern climate. Even the lovely palm trees have rolled-up fronds that are as sharp as thorns before they open up. In any case, the soldiers would have had no trouble gathering up a whole helmet of sharp thorns that covered Jesus's entire head. Some Theologians posit that the Crown of Thorns can represent the sins we commit with our minds.
The "Royal" Robe that the soldiers force upon Jesus is yet another mockery. It's all a joke to them. By now, Jesus's body is covered with wounds. The robe would stick to the wounds that would get torn open again as the robe is stripped off. This suggests sins we commit with our bodies.
Next the soldiers force a reed into Jesus's hand and pretend it is a scepter. The Scepter is a symbol of temporal power. We see it in the Book of Esther, and in Genesis, where we are told that "The Scepter shall not depart from Judah". When the fake scepter is put in Jesus's hand, the soldiers bow and scrape and pretend that Jesus is a king. Perhaps the scepter represents the sins we commit when we are given power and authority over others.
What the soldiers didn't realize is that Jesus was NOT a faker like a non-rider wearing a T-Shirt. Jesus truly was (is) the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. While we would have loved to see Him rise up, and Zap the soldiers into oblivion, that wasn't part of the Plan. He could have, but He didn't.
He didn't have to, because He KNEW Who He was, and if Jesus had a smart phone, He would have a picture of YOU in it.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 125
A Song of Ascents.
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides for ever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time on and for evermore.
3 For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest
on the land allotted to the righteous,
so that the righteous may not stretch out
their hands to do wrong.
4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,
and to those who are upright in their hearts.
5 But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways
the Lord will lead away with evildoers.
Peace be upon Israel!

Interesting lesson on the meaning of the crown of thorns, robe, scepter—relating to our sins.
In Genesis after the fall, the curse on the earth was thorns. And Jesus became a curse, wearing the crown of thorns.
Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

“What is thy servant that my Lord should look upon such a lame dead dog as I am?”
“Depart from me oh Lord for I am a sinful man”
“I will never leave you or forsake you “
Dear left that other site, it’s 1 am here in Oz. I can’t sleep for the thoughts in my mind. The west has become numb in it’s feelings, it seems to have lost the ability to be shocked by anything. The enemy is devouring almost at will and any who resist are not only mocked but are treated more and more violently in each passing day. Even in church, folks have become almost numb to the season they’re living in.
To wake at this hour, then be confronted by this post of yours, almost brings me undone. Hence the above verses come to mind.
To think of His righteous judgement makes me shudder and fear for those outside the church but also for so many in the church that seem utterly unaffected by what is happening around them!
Right now “maranatha” sounds more to me like a desperate plea than ever it did!
God bless you FRiend you really hit the bullseye with me tonight.
