Chad Scharf, former vice president for software engineering at Bitwarden, is now suing the company.
(LifeSiteNews) – A Catholic software engineer was fired by his former employer for putting “Assigned by God” as his “preferred pronouns,” an act which was precedented by pressure from the company to display “gender identity” in the name of “inclusion.”
Chad Scharf, who used to work as the vice president for software engineering at the password management company Bitwarden, lost his job for refusing to violate his religious beliefs by endorsing gender ideology, according to a lawsuit filed at the end of May.
“Ultimately, I was fired because my faith ‘may offend’ someone or could have made someone ‘feel unwelcome,’” Scharf told LifeSiteNews via email. “These are the statements used by the head of HR to complain to the CEO which reasoned that my faith was somehow harassing people through the statement of ‘assigned by God’ in the pronoun field of my Slack profile.”
“There wasn’t even an actual complaint of harassment or offense, it was purely based on virtue-signaling and speculative presumption.”
According to the complaint filed on May 25, Scharf began working for the company in 2020, one year before company-wide “inclusivity” efforts were initiated. Along with other employees, Scharf was “pressured by the company to add pronouns to his Slack profile, [and] he chose those in conformity with his religious belief: ‘Assigned by God.’”
When asked to remove the “preferred pronouns,” he refused to contradict his Catholic faith and argued “that Bitwarden’s policies and practices discriminated against his religion.” The complaint added that “Mr. Scharf was very good at his job and, until he voiced his religious beliefs, never had any issues at work.”

Cowardice and lack of conviction will be the death of the USA and the church.
My pronouns are “normal” and “unperverted.”
This gentleman displayed courage and conviction.
My pronouns are “If you can’t figure it out by looking, you’re too damned stupid to live ...”
“This gentleman displayed courage and conviction.”
Yes, but those that fired him didn’t, and neither does the church.
This is in FLA so he may win his suit.
Am I correct that Bitwarden is a company that stores passwords? The company pronouns are “little bastards”.
As he rightly should. Clear case of discrimination. Need to watch, because he should win his case. Let's see if that still is the case.
Corporate tyranny like this needs to be banned. Republican legislators: are you awake?
Yup. Discrimination based on religion. Bet you if he had donned one of those lady jihadi head wraps he'd not only get a pass, but would be celebrated by the diversity freaks in HR (although he'd have to worry about the male jihadis then taking offense - and taking action...)
And yet, nobody ever appears concerned about offending Christians...

The new world religion forced on him definitely offended and excluded him. Double standard.
Corporate tyranny like this needs to be banned.
According to the article, it was the HR woman who made an issue of it. No one complained.
These HR types are toxic. They spew their woke crap and no one contradicts them for fear of being accused of hate and fired. Their executive peers avoid weighing in on the topic like the plague.
He will win...maybe. Years ago I had a friend and church member who worked for Verizon. During the height of the whole gay marriage debacle Verizon established a website where employees could express their opinions about this important topic. Their intent was to provide a platform for the homosexual viewpoint. Well my friend noted that there was no prohibitions against stating counter opinions. So he pretty much said the bible doesn’t support it and added scriptures to back it up. Long story short he was fired BUT he had the foresight to take screenshots of all communications related to it. He ended up suing Verizon. It went through the courts for years (he was represented I believe pro bono) but he finally won. I don’t know the settlement but it was significant.
Glad your friend won the case against “woke-ass” Verizon. It is good to see someone display courage behind their convictions. We need more of this......
The headline makes it sound like it was “one and done,” but the article describes that he was instructed three times to change it, and in the meantime was negotiating with HR, including participating in a panel discussion about how the company could structure things to be more inclusive of all types of people, including religious believers. From the sound of it, he was mindful not to be hostile and arrogant about it, but to stand on his belief.
But what ripped it apparently, was that a trans person was given to him for an interview, and he did not use the person’s “preferred pronouns” in the write-up afterward. So he was canned after that. But it was just a matter of time.
It’s okay for companies to tell believers that they must participate in woke religious rituals like pretending a man is a woman, but it would be an outrage if a believer required all other employees to make the sign of the cross, say “God bless you” if someone sneezes, or pray with them at lunchtime, for instance.
