Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 17
The Coming of the Kingdom of God
20 Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”[c]
22 Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. 23 People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them. 24 For the Son of Man in his day[d] will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. 25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35 Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.” [36] [e]
37 “Where, Lord?” they asked.
He replied, “Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.”

Today started out normal. It went downhill from there. I put on a brand new T-Shirt (that I just bought yesterday at a music shop over 60 miles away), and went to get my coffee for my daily hike with Tippy. When I went to the coffeepot, I saw that I had not prepared the night before, so I had to set up the coffeemaker, clean out the pot, and make coffee. I hooked Tippy up to her leash and grabbed my coffee, and prepared to go out. It was raining a bit, so I grabbed an umbrella, and as I was juggling it to open it up, I spilled steaming hot black coffee all over my bare arm and Brand New T-Shirt.The shirt, a pale green color with the Cover Art of the Rock Album "Rumours" now had a big brown stain on the sleeve.
I got as far as the top of the hill at the end of my street, and it started to POUR. We stood poised to cross the street to go to the sidewalk on the other side, but the cars wouldn't stop, sending up huge rooster tails of dirty water as they sped by. Tippy decided that this wasn't the environment for her to do her "business", and she put her ears back and plodded through the rushing water with a look of misery. I finally gave up and took her home. I am watching the weather, and if it abates even one little bit, I will take her out again so she can relieve herself. POOR BABY.
Both Tippy and I have seen rain before, and although it isn't fun getting soaked, it's no big deal. In the Genesis Account of the Flood, there is an indication that the Torrential Rain that happened, when the "Floodgates of Heaven" were opened, was a new experience for people. It is theorized that the earth regulated moisture in a different way, involving a mist that rose from the ground, or perhaps a huge cloud cover that watered everything by some form of osmosis. In Egypt, the Nile flooded yearly to provide water and soil for crops, and in the Middle East, it was Groundwater that served in the form of wells. Even if it did rain from time to time, it would have been scanty at best.
The thing about this morning's rain is that it seemed to come out of nowhere. As I had been dressing, sunlight poured in my windows. As I was preparing to leave the house, there was a hazy mist that clued me into bringing my umbrella. Before we had even gone a half mile, it was coming down in buckets, and the two-lane divided highway looked like a rushing river. It became easy to see how this could definitely build up into a serious flood.
More than just the rain, there were so many other parallels to the Days of Noah than just the rain.
Last night, the Foul-Mouthed Comedienne showed up at our beloved Open Mike Nite again. I had really thought that she would never come back, because the last time she showed up, she did not elicit a SINGLE laugh from our crowd. In fact, people walked out. This time, she brought her own audience, about ten nicely-dressed and somewhat attractive young women (at least I think they were women!) who marched in with her and put her name on the list. It was like an invasion. Our beloved host, Scotty, was in a quandary. There were older folks and CHILDREN in the audience. He said she could do her schtick, but AFTER everyone else at the very end of the night. He knew exactly when the tavern closes, and I saw him deftly running out the clock, by giving us all extra time to do long solos and jams onstage. I went around and told all the old people and children to pay their tabs and leave before she went on, and Sis and I left 5 minutes before closing time with a blues jam in full swing onstage, and the staff packing things up and cleaning off the tables. I still don't know what happened next, as I got out of there before the effluvia struck the antique room-cooling device.
In times gone by, such people would have been ejected posthaste without a second thought. A proprietor of a business was able to set dress codes, expect decorum from his patrons, and have the authority to eject anyone who was disturbing the other guests. It's not like that anymore. Brian, the owner of the establishment, could get into very big trouble if he turned someone away for perverted behavior. The only way we could deal with it was to do passive-aggressive little things to make that alleged comic NOT want to come back. But obviously that didn't work, because after she was cast out, she came back with ten of her friends.
Isaiah said:
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who turn darkness to light and light to darkness, who replace bitter with sweet and sweet with bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.…(Isaiah 5 NIV)
Just like in the Days of Noah.
And, just like in the days of Noah, We Have Been Warned.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 136
1 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
2 O give thanks to the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
4 who alone does great wonders,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
5 who by understanding made the heavens,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
6 who spread out the earth on the waters,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
7 who made the great lights,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
8 the sun to rule over the day,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
9 the moon and stars to rule over the night,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
10 who struck Egypt through their firstborn,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
11 and brought Israel out from among them,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
12 with a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
13 who divided the Red Sea* in two,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
14 and made Israel pass through the midst of it,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
15 but overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,*
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
16 who led his people through the wilderness,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
17 who struck down great kings,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
18 and killed famous kings,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
19 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
20 and Og, king of Bashan,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
21 and gave their land as a heritage,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
22 a heritage to his servant Israel,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
23 It is he who remembered us in our low estate,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
24 and rescued us from our foes,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
25 who gives food to all flesh,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
26 O give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
