Enneagram Celebrities: The Enneagram is the Face of God and the Body of Christ

The distortions of God continue unchecked in the culture of the Enneagram celebrities. A recent example is Rev. Michael John Cusick, M.A., L.P.C., founder and CEO of Restoring the Soul, an organization in Colorado. IAN CRON recently promoted Michael John Cusick on his Typology podcast. In doing a bit of research on Cusick and his organization, I came across his podcast, “Episode 100 – Kelley Gray, ‘5 Ways the Enneagram Can Strengthen Your Marriage, Part II: Understanding How Your Partner Handles Conflict’” on Luminary.

We see this quote in the description by “Intensive Clinical Soul Care Specialist” Kelley Gray, M.A., L.P.C. at Restoring the Soul.

“The Enneagram is the Face of God and the Body of Christ”

Members of my family got into the enneagram a bit when I was high-school age. To me it made sense to say, “OK, people who are like this seek to be more like this,” etc. I could understand the pushback (it was very popular, like Myers-Briggs) based on its questionable scientific validity. (Even astrology can offer insights, even if the beliefs which led to insights are absolutely absurd.) But I couldn’t understand the religious pushback, until I saw some of the material for those who were into it more deeply. I don’t know how much was simply hijacked by nut-cases, but I do know there was no way of saying, “OK, these are the legitimate folks, and these are the hijacking nutcases,” which made me think that maybe there no legitimate folks.

They are not true believers, but heretics.

Enneagram celebrities and fascinated users of it will vehemently disagree when I say the Enneagram is an occult device. Occultism is knowledge of unseen things gained through the aid of fallen angels. This is not to say that every time someone uses an Enneagram they come into contact with the demonic. It is to say that the Enneagram originated in knowledge gained from the demonic, thus it exerts a fascinating power over the gullible.

I had a bit of a glitch with my Enneagram.
Can anyone help me?

I was very impressed by Enneagrams, as described in “Intensive Clinical Soul Care Specialist” Kelley Gray, M.A., L.P.C. at Restoring the Soul, who says “The Enneagram is the Face of God and the Body of Christ”

What happened was that I had troueble with the directions.
So my Enneagram turned my hubby into a frog.
Can any of you guys tell me how to get it to run in reverse?

"What the heck is an enneagram???"

It is a circular diagram in which people are divided into nine basic psychological types, based upon their responses to a questionnaire. The questionnaire varies from author to author. It was popularized back in the 70s by a Bolivian "mystic" named Oscar Ichazo and - a bit later - one of his students, a Chilean psychiatrist named Claudio Naranjo.

The origin of the Enneagram is disputed, but the most common view is that it originated in Islamic Sufism and was brought to the West by the enigmatic personality, George Gurdjieff, who claimed he had learned the system from the Sarmoung Brotherhood, a mystical order in Central Asia.

As a system of psychological typology, the Enneagram system resembles the American-born Myers-Briggs system of 16 basic psychological types. (The nine Enneagram types are divided into sub-types called "wings.")

The labels of the nine Enneagram types vary a bit, but one source calls them The Perfectionist, The Giver, The Performer, The Romantic, The Observer, The Loyal Skeptic, The Epicure, The Protector, and The Mediator. I don't find the whole thing as inherently sinister like some do, but I suppose it can be abused or misused.

The article mentions mysticism. One thing I have real problems with in Christianity is this concept of *Christian mystics*.

There is no precedent for that in Scripture.

"There is no precedent for that [mystics] in Scripture."

I think you are equating mystical experience with the practice of occultism. St. Paul claimed to have mystical experiences, and so did the author - St. John - of The Book of Revelation. You could argue that all of the disciples of Christ were witnesses to mystical experiences, culminating in the Ascension of Jesus.

“mysticism, the practice of religious ecstasies (religious experiences during alternate states of consciousness), together with whatever ideologies, ethics, rites, myths, legends, and magic may be related to them.

Neither Paul nor John were mystics.
