Namecalling and pigeonholing are absolutely poisonous to intelligent debate or discussion. They are not indicative of acting in good faith.

I don’t believe “scoffer” here is name-calling. It’s just a descriptive word used legitimately in an attention to save lives.

I guess Jesus really blew it then when He called the pharisees a brood of vipers, children of hell, and white washed tombs, for starters.

Besides, it's the Holy Spirit who inspired Scripture and used the term *scoffers*.
