Jesuits expel prominent priest Rupnik after allegations of abuse against adult women

Pope Francis’ Jesuit religious order said Thursday it has expelled a prominent Slovenian priest from the congregation following allegations of sexual, spiritual and psychological abuses against adult women.

A statement from the Jesuits, obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday, said the Rev. Marko Ivan Rupnik was dismissed from the Jesuit order by decree on June 9 “due to stubborn refusal to observe the vow of obedience.”

Rupnik is one of the most celebrated religious artists in the Catholic Church, whose mosaics decorate churches and basilicas around the world, including at the Vatican.

Late last year, the Jesuits acknowledged he had been accused by several women of sexual, spiritual and psychological abuses over a 30-year period. But he had largely escaped punishment, apparently thanks in part to his exalted status in the church and at the Vatican, where even Francis’ role in the case came into question.

Bergoglio had already lifted Rupnik's excommunication, so there's a good chance the rapist's appeal will be successful.

“abuses against adult women.”

guess if he was diddling little boys like all the others did, it would have been ok?

I suspect this is less about the priest and more about the Jesuits throwing out a shiny object.

Easy Chewie. “all the others” is less than 1% of Catholic priests which is 1% too many but no different ratio than any other demographic and prolly less than democrat politicians.

The NAMBLA operation within that denomination is obviously large or else it wouldn’t be so international and prolific, with lifelong cover-ups, transfers to new victims instead of charges being filed, the church institutions such as banking, and the Vatican, and questionable and accepting leadership. These man/boy operations are practically in the open within the organization.

How do we know they were ‘women’?
Are we misgendering some or all?

That will be for THEM to decide.....................

The only reason there are so many predator infiltrators within the Catholic Church is because we are the biggest Church with the largest footprint in the world. And because we have a very prominent catechetical position that sex outside of marriage is a sin, and sodomy is a very grave sin. If they can take us down, they'll eventually come for every micro-Protty denomination too. They've already infested/ruined most of the larger ones. All the "christian" churches I see with freak flags out are some flavor of Protestant.

So maybe get that beam out of your eye at some point, yes?

It’s an abomination. I’m Catholic and prolly their biggest critic. The Lavender mafia is real and the Judas’ are knee deep within the Church. But I know many faithful priests who are constantly in the cross hairs of naysayers, unjustly so. God will not be mocked. The Judas’ will be driven from the temple and mill stones firmly tethered to their necks but the good servants can’t be willy nilly lumped with these sodomites.

“””The only reason there are so many predator infiltrators within the Catholic Church is because we are the biggest Church with the largest footprint in the world.”””

You know better than that.
Single men are not devoting their entire life to the 60 year career of being a priest just to infiltrate the Catholic Church and to possibly be caught by police in their 70s.

This is an institutional and an institutionalized situation, not random NAMBLA deviants being weeded out in hiring, and then being hunted down, investigated, and convictions being pursued when they slip through.

Should have stuck to little boys. Then he’d have been protected and not expelled.

They weren't all women:

As extensively reported by LifeSiteNews, Rupnik has been accused of psychologically and sexually abusing 20 of the 40 religious sisters in the Loyola Community in Slovenia, of which he was a co-founder. The revelations and allegations became public in late 2022.

After the Jesuit Order issued an open call for any more victims to come forward in December 2022, a further 15 people accused the priest of having abused them, with male victims also coming forward.

Doesn’t Rupnik know he would be ignored if he was a pedophilic perverted phaggot?

Well said and correct. God is bringing this to light, first his Church, but since all the abuse of minors first broke over 20 years ago, we have seen more and more of this going on across society in protestant confessions. For example, Southern Baptist the most evangelical of the protestant groups have had major scandals and we don’t know all of it because some SBC groups say that are part of conference and don’t have to report to the Convention. Other protestant groups have issues but have not done any research on the problem. So I give the Southern Baptist Convention credit for taking this problem on.

Obviously, in secular society among boy scouts, teachers and sports coaches, and just within family situations as well, we see this evil behavior as well.

Of course he was expelled. It was adult women. That is two strikes against him.

Rupnik is most famous as an artists. His work always seemed creepy to me. Very effeminate images of Jesus, apostles and saints with tilted heads and bent wrists and privacy-violating poses, but the creep factor exceeded that. But OCP (Oregon Catholic Press, which publishes SO many of the America’s Catholic missals) loves, loves, loves, loves, loves him.

Oregon Catholic Press is most notable as a purveyor of truly wretched liturgical music.
