Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 12
Not Peace but Division
49 “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father,
Blessed is Your Holy Name!
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Mighty and Glorious,
Eternal,
Immortal,
and Almighty.
You Alone Are Worthy of Our Most Humble Worship,
For You Alone Are The Most High.
Shout Unto the LORD with Gladness,
Serve Him With Joy,
For He is The One True God Of Abraham,
And The One Who Delivers Us from Our Enemies!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

A student of mine has Down's Syndrome but is able to attend Public School with additional special training. In this way he is able to interact with other kids his age and be "Mainstreamed" into society. His younger brother is also "Special Needs" but both do very well in the local High School, and are popular boys.
One day, their Mom got an angry phone call from the Principal. She was instructed to come and get her boys and take them home because they were being "abusive" to another student. The Mom couldn't believe it. Her boys just weren't like that. So she sped over to the High School and found the boys sitting, shame faced and humiliated, in the Principal's Office. When she demanded to know what was going on, the principal explained:
The boys were wearing crisp new shirts, just purchased, that had a Woodland Camouflage pattern. The Dress Code did not forbid Cammo, but in this case, there happens to be a 9th Grade Student who identifies as a DEER. She dresses all in brown, wears little ears on her head, and refuses to speak even though she is quite capable of doing so. When she saw the brothers in their shirts, she screamed in terror (I guess she was thinking they were deer hunters?). The Mom was ordered to take her boys home and not send them back to school until they APOLOGIZED.
I was so appalled by this story that I almost suggested she buy two bright orange vests for the boys so they would REALLY look like hunters. Grrrrr. Stuff like that makes me so MAD.
Today's Reading contains some of the most difficult teachings of Jesus in the entire Gospels. It's almost easier to believe in the Resurrection of the Dead than it is to accept that Jesus, the Prince of Peace, has brought a sword of division to the earth, but that is exactly what He is saying.
"Peace at any Price" is not a good policy. SOMEBODY has to pay the "any price", and it can be at the expense of Truth and Justice. While it may be harmless to indulge the fantasies of children, and encourage their imaginations, the line is drawn when it unjustly infringes upon the rights of others. It's even worse for Adult Fantasies, because they nearly always cause harm to somebody else. Children don't have much power in society, and their fantasies eventually blow over, but adults DO have power and that is when it gets dangerous. It is one thing to be a "Peacemaker", and quite another to sacrifice Truth for the sake of "Peacekeeping". Neville Chamberlain learned that the hard way.
When a person makes a commitment of faith in Jesus, he will inevitably invoke the wrath of others, sometimes in his own family. It's not all "Peace and Love", as depicted by The Woodstock Generation. (In fact, my boyfriend had to be airlifted out of Woodstock because he went into a diabetic coma. All the "Peace and Love" couldn't stand up to the Truth of his Medical Condition or the miserable conditions at Max Yasgur's Farm, and I am so glad my parents didn't let me go with him to the concert, ...but I digress.)
In Fact, Truth will nearly ALWAYS bring Division, because so many people are completely invested in Lies. The Truth is Exclusive, so it will always offend somebody.
I suppose you know you are in the Right when you offend all the right people. But remember, the Truth will set you free.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Psalm 80
To the leader: on Lilies, a Covenant. Of Asaph. A Psalm.
1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock!
You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth
2 before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh.
Stir up your might,
and come to save us!
3 Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved.
4 O Lord God of hosts,
how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears,
and given them tears to drink in full measure.
6 You make us the scorn* of our neighbours;
our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Restore us, O God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved.
8 You brought a vine out of Egypt;
you drove out the nations and planted it.
9 You cleared the ground for it;
it took deep root and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shade,
the mighty cedars with its branches;
11 it sent out its branches to the sea,
and its shoots to the River.
12 Why then have you broken down its walls,
so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?
13 The boar from the forest ravages it,
and all that move in the field feed on it.
14 Turn again, O God of hosts;
look down from heaven, and see;
have regard for this vine,
15 the stock that your right hand planted.*
16 They have burned it with fire, they have cut it down;*
may they perish at the rebuke of your countenance.
17 But let your hand be upon the one at your right hand,
the one whom you made strong for yourself.
18 Then we will never turn back from you;
give us life, and we will call on your name.
19 Restore us, O Lord God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
| _ | AM COME to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it | be accomplished!
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
