Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 12

Do Not Worry

22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life[b]? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Blessed and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
How Magnificent,
How Holy,
How Sanctified and Glorious!
When I Awake in the Morning,
You Are There.
All through the day,
You Are With me.
And When I go to Sleep at Night,
You Are Still Watching Over Us All.
For You Neither Slumber Nor Sleep.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Monday, I had an early appointment about 24 miles away. It was dreary out, so I drove the car instead of the motorcycle. I turned on Talk Radio (1200AM) to keep me company. I recognized the voice of Glenn Beck, who is not one of my usual programs. Within seconds, he had me laughing out loud, all alone in my car, on Route 24 just off the Infamous Braintree Split. He was riffing about assigning a Month to each of the Seven Deadly Sins. Since there are more than Seven months in the year, some of the Sins get more than one.

April, because of Tax Day, was assigned the Sin of Greed. August, when all one wants to do is stay at home in the A/C, was assigned Sloth. Gluttony got November because of the pigging-out a lot of folks do on Thanksgiving. Envy fits into February, as that is the shortest month of the year and probably wishes it were longer. Lust and Pride go hand-in-hand in June, and I get pretty Wrathful shoveling snow, so I have assigned that to March, when it ought to be Spring but often hosts the worst snowstorms of the year in New England. March is also named after the Roman God of War, so Wrath it is great for March. Anyway, I had a good laugh on the way to my Mammogram, a procedure that always makes me nervous. It came out perfectly normal, so I'm happy about that.

The "Seven Deadly Sins" are not in the Bible, but were the musings of a brilliant Theologian, Thomas Aquinas. He gleaned his conclusions from reading the Scriptures, and they make sense. I would add Idolatry to the Seven Deadly Sins, but that would make it EIGHT. (October would be a good month for it though). Nevertheless, the Seven are pretty terrible even standing alone, and they often cause the others to follow suit, joining into clusters. One always seems to lead to the other. This is why those indulging in the sin of Pride are often Envious and Wrathful as well. Modern Psychology has new names for the Seven Deadly Sins, circling around the term "Narcissism". Here are a few examples

Pride, Wrath, and Lust combine to become Malignant Narcissism" This Sin manifests itself as Bombastic Grandiosity, Controlling Personality, Critical Attitude and Abusive Behavior.

Envy, Greed, Sloth, and Gluttony are traits common to the "Covert Narcissist". This is the Trauma Dumping, Concern-Trolling, Manipulative, Overly Vulnerable Worrier, who lives in a world where EVERYBODY is against him.

In both kinds of Narcissism, the root Sin is arguably Pride. The Narcissist lives in a World of Me, Me, Me, LOOK AT MEEEEEE!!! From this root comes the other Sins, as they all imply a sense of Entitlement.

Interestingly enough, the World of Psychology has no therapeutic answer for Narcissism. That's because it is considered a "Personality Disorder" rather than a "Mental Illness". Coupled with the fact that Narcissists don't think there is anything WRONG with them in the first place, most Psychotherapists don't even want to deal with it.

While the Secular Establishment may avoid trying to cure a Narcissist, NOTHING is Impossible with God. The first thing that has to happen though, is to recognize that a lot of "Personality Disorders" are actually rooted in Sin. (this is why Science doesn't have a cure.) Jesus speaks of the Worriers (Covert Narcissists, Hoarders, etc) who live in fear that they won't have enough. There is a reason that God gave just enough Manna each day, and that storing it would make it rot. The same reason applies to the Lord's Prayer, "Give us this day our daily bread."

While we are expected to be Responsible Citizens and Good Stewards of the Gifts God has given us, we are not supposed to hoard them, not are we supposed to worry each day about tomorrow. Today has enough on the agenda to keep us all occupied.

It's all about Faith, the lack of which is probably the deadliest sin of all.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 48

A Song. A Psalm of the Korahites.

1 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God.
His holy mountain, 2beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
3 Within its citadels God
has shown himself a sure defence.

4 Then the kings assembled,
they came on together.
5 As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic, they took to flight;
6 trembling took hold of them there,
pains as of a woman in labour,
7 as when an east wind shatters
the ships of Tarshish.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in the city of our God,
which God establishes for ever.
Selah

9 We ponder your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
10 Your name, O God, like your praise,
reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with victory.
11 Let Mount Zion be glad,
let the towns* of Judah rejoice
because of your judgements.

12 Walk about Zion, go all around it,
count its towers,
13 consider well its ramparts;
go through its citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
14 that this is God,
our God for ever and ever.
He will be our guide for ever.
