Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 12

The Parable of the Rich Fool

13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

14 Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” 15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Holy and Sanctified is Your Glorious Name Forever!
We Come Into Your Holy Presence To Worship You,
And You Alone.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God.
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
LORD of Hosts,
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
You Know the end from the beginning,
And the beginning from the end.
You Are The Author of Life,
Our Precious Creator,
You formed us in the secret places of our mother's womb,
And have a perfect plan for each and every one of us.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Prince Harry has recently released a book entitles "Spare". In it, he whines muses about being the second son of King Charles III. That means that his older brother is the heir, and he is the "spare". Hence the Book title. While I am not a big fan of "The Royals", I did watch the Coronation because of its historical significance. I love Handel's Music, and his composition "Zadoc the Priest" is played at every Coronation. Also, there was an intriguing glimpse of the Grim Reaper outside the back door of the Cathedral during the ceremony, for which the official explanation is unimpressive. Anyway, such a spectacle is not likely to happen again in my lifetime, so I'm glad I watched.

A lot of people had hoped that Queen Elizabeth would outlive Charles, or that he would abdicate in favor of his eldest son William, but it was not to be. In any case, William is still the Heir, and Harry is the Spare. This doesn't sit well with Harry's wife, who seems to subscribe to the Walt Disney Brand of feminism (Marry a Prince and become a Queen). The conferring of Titles in the British System of Succession is a lot more complex than it seems at first glance. Unless something really drastic and crazy happens, it is unlikely that Meg will every be anything more than "Mrs. Spare." These convoluted events make me THANK GOD for our Founding Fathers and Our Constitution.

In today's Reading, Jesus talks about Greed. St. Thomas Aquinas classified "Greed" as one or "The Seven Deadly Sins", along with Lust,Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth. The young man who asks Jesus to adjudicate an inheritance may have been the younger of two brothers. Legally, the older brother was entitled to twice the amount as the younger. If the elder wished to divide the inheritance equally, it was his choice, but not required. The elder was the heir, and the younger was the spare. That's just the way it was.

Jesus, at first, doesn't want to get into a legal dispute, but then tells a parable about a rich man who has to build a second barn to hold all his stuff. Then, that very night, the man dies suddenly, and all the stuff is left behind.

In this passage of Scripture, everybody (except Jesus) is greedy. The heir is greedy for not sharing, the spare is greedy for not being satisfied with his portion, and the man in the parable is greedy for thinking that he can take it all with him when he goes.

There is a tragic mental condition based upon Greed that ruins lives, destroys homes, and isolates people into misery. It is such a sad phenomenon that it has become the subject of Reality Shows.

It's called Hoarding. Being prepared for emergencies and hoarding are two different things. One is caused by Wisdom and the other is by Greed.

One wonders why Greed is considered a Deadly Sin. The reason, in my opinion, is that Greed implies a Mistrust in God. It is fear that God doesn't keep His Promises. It is calling God a Liar!

And that's a BIG Sin.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 11

To the leader. Of David.

1 In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me,
‘Flee like a bird to the mountains;*
2 for look, the wicked bend the bow,
they have fitted their arrow to the string,
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?’

4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
His eyes behold, his gaze examines humankind.
5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
and his soul hates the lover of violence.
6 On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulphur;
a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the Lord is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face.
