“Monkeys, typewriters, works of Shakespeare.”
A roomful of monkeys with typewriters will produce a room full of monkey crap and broken typewriters, if given enough time.

10 billion years of a countably infinite number of monkeys typing randomly, would not be enough time to construct the code for one self-replicating RNA molecule.
“20 years ago, as a PhD scientist, I intensely studied the evolution versus ID controversy for about two years. And finally, despite my previous acceptance of evolutionary theory as fact, I came to the realization that Intelligent Design as a theory of origins, is no more religious, and no less scientific, than evolutionism. In the scientific community, I am not alone.” Dr. Roy Spencer

“a civil and scholarly discussion”
I would love to do that. Maybe we can start a good-faith dialogue here if RWC doesn’t mind.
I would start with a caution about trying to predict the year of his return both because scripture says we don’t know the day of the hour (I think that would include the precise year) and because it could potentially hurt the faith of some of our weaker brethren.
I think at the outset that it’s important to understand that Daniel’s 70th week AKA the seven-year tribulation, is a time of God’s wrath. The “wrath” of God appears twelve times in the Book of Revelation between Chapters 6 and 19 - the period of the seven-year tribulation. This is a time God calls “his strange work” (Isaiah 28:21). “Strange” because God is not normally wroth or executing his wrath on man. All of his wrath was executed on his Son 2000 years ago. Thank you Jesus.
I think next to (and actually part of) the doctrine of the Gospel of the Grace of Christ, understanding the end times may be one of the most important things for believers, because resting in Christ and being comforted by him is involved. A great deal of the Bible is devoted to this time.
I think this is because God wants his people to know what is coming and wants to comfort them so they won’t be afraid (1 Thess. 4:18, 5:11). (I think many of God’s people are afraid thinking they might have to go through that great and terrible day of God’s wrath. But God has promised that he “has not appointed us to wrath, but to salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ 1 Thess. 5:9).
However, I think you are right about us knowing “the times and the seasons” (1 Thess. 5:1). I believe we are very close to his coming for us.
The Second coming of Christ is actually in two parts. They are the “bookends” of Daniel’s 70th Week AKA the seven-year tribulation.
The first part of his second coming (he is coming FOR us), and is like a “thief” because he does not touch down on earth, nobody on earth sees him (he’s in the clouds), and he “steals” his own from earth to meet him in the sky to be with him in Heaven, thus saving his own from the terrible and unimaginable horror of the wrath to come. It is called the great “catching up” (1 Thess. 15-18) or the “rapture” of the church.
The Holy Spirit and his withholding power also departs the earth so there is nothing to withhold the evil and the seven-year tribulation that will launch upon the rapture (2 Thess. 2:6-12). Thus, the seven-year tribulation of God’s wrath upon the earth begins.
The second part of of his second coming (he is coming WITH us) is like lightening that shines from the east even to the west and everybody sees him. Unlike the false Christ with a bow on a white horse in Rev. 6:2, the King of kings and Lord of lords appears in the sky on a white horse and we also on white horses and he has a sword that comes out of his mouth and destroys the world’s forces gathered together with the beast against him at a battle called Armageddon, bloodier than any battle before or after (Rev. 14:20).
I like your thoughts.
Don Koenig wrote an excellent “timeline” back in 2007 when everybody thought Obama was the coming man of sin ready to take the stage.
I think his timeline is coming together nicely as we move closer to the 2030’s.

All good Jim W N.
We’re all believers (I pray) and it’s good to have these discussions as the time draws near.
Correction the reference...
...the great “catching up” (1 Thess. 4:15-18) or the “rapture” of the church.
Amen.
I believe God has given me a ministry of edification, exhortation, and comfort to his people in these lase days.
God bless.

“Walmart is ready to automate majority of stores, fulfillment centers”
aww guys the Lord delays His coming, it’s been the same since the beginning of time. Nothing will happen. Let’s party!!
Party like it’s 1656 since Creation!
Nothing will happen!
Sadly, I’ve heard that over and over and over. It’s fulfilling prophecy.
1 Cor 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.I see this as one of the rules for interpreting scripture. It is so common that it is hard understand how people miss it. I mentioned earlier birth, death, and resurrection. These are illustrations of invisible things that we can see clearly according to Romans 1:20. The first birth is natural and the second birth is spiritual. I submit that death and resurrection follow the same rule.
Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. This verse can be read as one resurrection, not two. Notice the people standing before the Great White Throne are referred to as “The Dead.” We need a good definition of Resurrection.
Those in Christ, as Christ himself, only have one death and resurrection. The instant we receive Christ, we died and were raised in Christ (Rom. 6:3-8), “knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death has no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he lives, he lives unto God (Rom. 6:9-10).
So believers die once and are resurrected once in Christ. Death is no more ahead of us, only life and great blessing. “Oh death where is you sting? Oh grave where is your victory?” (1 Cor 15:55). For the believer, what we call “death’ is simply a departing from the world, the flesh, and the devil to Heaven and our Savior.
“Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” Rev. 20:6. It is called the “first resurrection” because believers are the first to be resurrected (instantly upon receiving Christ).
However, non-believers who die outside of Christ are not the first ones to be resurrected, believers are the first ones. Those who die outside of Christ, die in their sins and remain locked up in a holding pen called hell (the first death for them). They too are resurrected (Rev. 20:12) (after believers were resurrected, so they are not part of the first resurrection) to the great white throne and a frightful eternity (the second death).
Strong’s root-word definition of “resurrection” is “a standing up again”.
Great points and questions you raise. Hope this helps. (I had to pray and ask the Lord how this works. I believe this is what he gave me.)
God bless.
