Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 9

Jesus Predicts His Death a Second Time

While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” 45 But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

46 An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. 47 Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. 48 Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”

49 “Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”

50 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

HALLELUJAH!
For The LORD, Our God, The Almighty Reigns!
Let Us Rejoice,
And Be Glad,
And Give The Glory Unto HIM!
The Kingdoms of The Earth
Are Become The Kingdom of Our God,
And Of His Messiah!
And he Shall Reign Forever and Ever.
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords.
Hallelujah.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

I grew up in a section of Boston where there was a large population of people from Greece and the Middle East. Within a small area, the neighborhood boasted a Greek Orthodox Church, a Syrian Orthodox Church, a Russian Orthodox Church, a Ukrainian Orthodox Church, a Lebanese Maronite Church, a Ukrainian Catholic Church, a Greek Orthodox Seminary, along with the usual Protestant, Catholic Churches and a couple of Synagogues.

As an artist and musician, I was drawn to the Orthodox Churches because they had the coolest architecture, the most intriguing art, and the best acapella choirs I had ever heard. (I know, I know, that is NOT a reason to choose a church to go to, but it was what it was.). Never mind that I didn't speak Greek, Russian, Ukrainian or Arabic. I was there for the beauty.

In all of these Eastern Rite Churches there was a wall between the Altar and the Congregation. This was in remembrance of the veil in the Temple of Solomon, separating the Holy of Holies from the rest of the Temple. This wall was covered in icons from top to bottom and was hence known as "The Iconostasis." While the styles varied from church to church, there was a definite hierarchy as to the placement of the icons. Wiki Article Placement of Icons. Even the style of the paintings was monitored to fit a set of rules that have been handed down for centuries. At eye-level were large portraits of Jesus, Mary, the Four Evangelists, and other important saints. Then, as the pictures rise up the wall, they get smaller and more numerous, depicting Apostles, Martyrs, Saints and so on. Topping the structure, or perhaps painted on the dome over the Altar, is Christ The King. This is a very superficial explanation, and there is much more to it, but you get the picture.

While the Iconostasis works beautifully in Art and Architecture, the Kingdom of God is run a little differently. The big pictures at eye-level would be reserved for the helpless children, whom Jesus calls "The Greatest in the Kingdom". Then, the smaller pictures rise up with lesser figures like kings, queens, bosses, millionaires, generals, religious leaders, and so on. Of Course, Christ The King is still on top, but for the apostles to argue over who would be the "Greatest" was ludicrous.

Human institutions demand hierarchy, otherwise they don't function. God understands that, and has given some to be teachers, some to be preachers, some to be healers, and some who are good at organizing things. But none of these talented people should ever argue over who is the Greatest. There is only ONE who fits that description, and He's up in the dome looking over us.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

My favorite:

49 “Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”

50 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

Jesus sure was not a fan of denominationalism.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 69

To the leader: according to Lilies. Of David.

1 Save me, O God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
2 I sink in deep mire,
where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
and the flood sweeps over me.
3 I am weary with my crying;
my throat is parched.
My eyes grow dim
with waiting for my God.

4 More in number than the hairs of my head
are those who hate me without cause;
many are those who would destroy me,
my enemies who accuse me falsely.
What I did not steal
must I now restore?
5 O God, you know my folly;
the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

6 Do not let those who hope in you be put to shame because of me,
O Lord God of hosts;
do not let those who seek you be dishonoured because of me,
O God of Israel.
7 It is for your sake that I have borne reproach,
that shame has covered my face.
8 I have become a stranger to my kindred,
an alien to my mother’s children.

9 It is zeal for your house that has consumed me;
the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.
10 When I humbled my soul with fasting,*
they insulted me for doing so.
11 When I made sackcloth my clothing,
I became a byword to them.
12 I am the subject of gossip for those who sit in the gate,
and the drunkards make songs about me.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love, answer me.
With your faithful help 14rescue me
from sinking in the mire;
let me be delivered from my enemies
and from the deep waters.
15 Do not let the flood sweep over me,
or the deep swallow me up,
or the Pit close its mouth over me.

16 Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good;
according to your abundant mercy, turn to me.
17 Do not hide your face from your servant,
for I am in distress—make haste to answer me.
18 Draw near to me, redeem me,
set me free because of my enemies.

19 You know the insults I receive,
and my shame and dishonour;
my foes are all known to you.
20 Insults have broken my heart,
so that I am in despair.
I looked for pity, but there was none;
and for comforters, but I found none.
21 They gave me poison for food,
and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

22 Let their table be a trap for them,
a snare for their allies.
23 Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,
and make their loins tremble continually.
24 Pour out your indignation upon them,
and let your burning anger overtake them.
25 May their camp be a desolation;
let no one live in their tents.
26 For they persecute those whom you have struck down,
and those whom you have wounded, they attack still more.*
27 Add guilt to their guilt;
may they have no acquittal from you.
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living;
let them not be enrolled among the righteous.
29 But I am lowly and in pain;
let your salvation, O God, protect me.

30 I will praise the name of God with a song;
I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31 This will please the Lord more than an ox
or a bull with horns and hoofs.
32 Let the oppressed see it and be glad;
you who seek God, let your hearts revive.
33 For the Lord hears the needy,
and does not despise his own that are in bonds.

34 Let heaven and earth praise him,
the seas and everything that moves in them.
35 For God will save Zion
and rebuild the cities of Judah;
and his servants shall live* there and possess it;
36 the children of his servants shall inherit it,
and those who love his name shall live in it.
