Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 9

Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah

18 Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?”

19 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”

20 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty, Eternal, Father,
Hallowed and Holy is Your Most Wonderful Name!
We Love You So Much,
With Our Whole Heart,
Our Whole Soul,
Our Whole Mind,
And Our Whole Strength!
You Alone Are Worthy To Receive Our Worship,
For You Alone Are the One True King Of The Universe,
The Ancient of Days,
The King of Glory!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

North of Jerusalem, in an area known as "The Finger of the Galilee" is a beautiful grotto with a bubbling spring of water and scenic mountains and caves. It is right on the Lebanese Border and is dangerously close to Syria and the Golan Heights. In 1984, it was relatively safe to go there, and so we did.

Because of the Water and the Scenic Beauty of the place, the grotto became a cult center for the nature god Pan. It also hosted a bunch of other temples and shrines for a bunch of other gods and goddesses. It was a weird place for Jesus to take His disciples, but Jesus, being Omniscient, had a reason for everything He did.

It was here that Jesus asked His disciples:

"Who Do You Say That I Am?"

There were lots of theories at the time. Was He John the Baptist reincarnated? Was He Elijah? Was He one of the Prophets?

Peter answered correctly, when he said "You are the Messiah", but his answer was not complete. He saw Jesus as "Messiah Ben David", the conquering hero. He had not yet grasped the concept of "Messiah Ben Yuseph", the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53.

When I was at Caesaria Philippi in 1984, I was informed that the area was the home of The Druze Religion.

At the time of my visit, the Druze were considered friends of Israel, good citizens, and frequent volunteers in the Armed Forces. They seemed to be respected by the Israelis, even if they thought that their religion was a little weird.

The Druze religion is an ancient form of what is called syncretism. This is a belief system made up of several different sources, and gives equal credibility to all of them, while forming its own sect. They revere Jesus, but only as a great Prophet. There are also elements of Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and several other "isms". There are a number of cults in the world who attempt to gather all the beliefs of the planet into one, but, they are all in contradiction. Jesus is either the Messiah or He isn't. As C.S.Lewis said in "Mere Christianity",

...the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic–on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg–or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse…. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

–C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity
So now, we can see that Caesaria Philippi was the PERFECT place to ask that question. A cult center for Pan, a forest of shrines to every nature god and goddess on the planet, a nexus for the World's religions, and the current home of a very nice but misguided group of people who believe that Jesus was only a Prophet, is the perfect place to declare:

"Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God!"

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 95

1 O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and the dry land, which his hands have formed.

6 O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.

O that today you would listen to his voice!
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 when your ancestors tested me,
and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I loathed that generation
and said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they do not regard my ways.’
11 Therefore in my anger I swore,
‘They shall not enter my rest.’
