Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 8

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers

19 Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”

21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
From The Rising of the Sun,
To its Setting,
You Name Shall be Praised.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe.
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
And Into Your Courts With Praise,
For Your Are Eternal,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
Omnipresent, Just And Righteous,
Our Creator,
and The Creator of All That Is!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Psalm 9

To the leader: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David.

1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
2 I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

3 When my enemies turned back,
they stumbled and perished before you.
4 For you have maintained my just cause;
you have sat on the throne giving righteous judgement.

5 You have rebuked the nations, you have destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
6 The enemies have vanished in everlasting ruins;
their cities you have rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.

7 But the Lord sits enthroned for ever,
he has established his throne for judgement.
8 He judges the world with righteousness;
he judges the peoples with equity.

9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
Declare his deeds among the peoples.
12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them;
he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

13 Be gracious to me, O Lord.
See what I suffer from those who hate me;
you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death,
14 so that I may recount all your praises,
and, in the gates of daughter Zion,
rejoice in your deliverance.

15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made;
in the net that they hid has their own foot been caught.
16 The Lord has made himself known, he has executed judgement;
the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.
Higgaion. Selah

17 The wicked shall depart to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.

18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
nor the hope of the poor perish for ever.

19 Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail;
let the nations be judged before you.
20 Put them in fear, O Lord;
let the nations know that they are only human.
Selah

Fresh out of the Army, after WW2, three brothers joined together to start a business. There was a lot of Home Construction going on, so they went into paint and wallpaper. The store did well, and the three brothers relished the thought of passing the family business down to their sons, if any.

That looked as though it would never happen. The eldest was a confirmed bachelor. The second brother married late in life and his wife didn't seem to be able to conceive. The youngest also married later in life, but his wife became pregnant at age 39 and gave birth to the first male child in 30 years of that family's generation. The first-born son was followed four years later by another boy. Both boys started working in the store at a very young age. The older of the two hated it and the younger boy fit right in.

Years later, the younger son bought out the elder's share in the business and made it a huge success, while the older son went into computers.

This was equitable to all concerned, but, at the time, I couldn't help but notice the family's disappointment in the older son. It was completely incomprehensible to them that he didn't want to be a part of the "Family Business".

In all three of the Synoptic Gospels, we see evidence of the family of Jesus not fully understanding His Role and Position as Messiah and Redeemer. Of course, Mary knew, and understood, but Scripture tells us that she "kept it all locked up in her heart." She couldn't just scold the rest of the family for their concerns. Besides, she was probably a little concerned herself. Even though she KNEW He was the Son of God, He was also HER Son, her First-Born, her Beloved Little Yeshua. Perhaps a memory of Him playing with wooden blocks in Joseph's shop, as He learned the trade, would intrude upon her thoughts as she saw Him surrounded by adoring crowds. Perhaps, thinking of the wooden blocks, she may have seen a foreshadowing of The Cross. She could tell that her beloved Son was daily incurring the wrath and jealousy of the Religious Authorities, and she had always been a good, pious woman who obeyed the Law. Even with her profound faith and total submission to God's Will, Mary couldn't help but be worried a bit. After all, this was her First-Born Son.

The rest of the family wasn't so gracious about it. Jesus's place, they thought, was the Family Business. He was the First-Born, He had been trained in the job, and here He was, wandering around, infuriating the Civil and Religious Establishment, and risking imprisonment or even death.

They seemed to coalesce into what we call these days an "INTERVENTION."

Jesus's response is shocking, even to this day. He refers to ALL of us who follow Him as "His mother, brothers, and sisters". He was not rejecting His family, but, rather, including US.

And now we are all in The Family Business, which is The Great Commission.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
