Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 8
A Lamp on a Stand
16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All The Earth!
We Praise and Worship You,
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God!
Blessed Are You Oh LORD,
Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
Rock of All Ages!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

When I was very young, there was an ad on TV for a big religion that had its headquarters in Boston. The ad went like this:
"Jesus said, 'It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.'"
Well, of course, Jesus NEVER said that. It has murky origins, from it being a Chinese Proverb to being from a 1907 sermon. It's a nice little proverb, but it's NOT from the Gospels.
As my brother-in-law progressed through the various stages of Alzheimer's Disease, my sister and I struggled to find appropriate activities that would keep him engaged. Anything with large crowds, such as rock concerts or flea markets, were no longer appropriate, and anything involving hiking or sports events were definitely "out" as well.
It got to the point where Eating Out was the only Activity that worked, as long as it was Finger-Food. One of the best places to get Pizza and Wings was a bar nearly that was decorated like a Prohibition-Era Speakeasy. It was a fun place to go, with the added benefit of having excellent pizza, low prices, and friendly staff. I loved the ambiance, which was reminiscent of an old gangster movie.
My B-I-L, however, began to hate the place and make a scene, so we had to stop going there. When we quizzed him about the reason , he just said:
"It's DARK."
What my sister and I hadn't realized was that the place WAS dark. There were no windows, and the only light emanated from little Tiffany-Style Table Lamps that were heavy with beaded fringe and stained glass. I liked the look, and so did my sister, but to my B-I-L, it only represented darkness. He made no association with the Roaring Twenties, the Prohibition Era, Al Capone, or The Jazz Age. All he could see was that it was DARK.
My B-I-L is now in a Skilled Care Facility, and my sister and I still like to eat out together, but we have not been back to the speakeasy restaurant. It seems as if they may have changed the decor, because the name of the place has been changed. Maybe somebody else complained about the darkness. The solution was to replace the little table lamps with mellow ambient lighting and some nice wall fixtures. 1920's decor is over 100 years old already!
What Jesus really said was that we are not to hoard the Light that is the Gospel. We are to let our Light shine forth so that others may see the Treasure we have within us. Whether that is with music, teaching, hospitality, or even just a smile, LET IT SHINE.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 115
1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness.
2 Why should the nations say,
‘Where is their God?’
3 Our God is in the heavens;
he does whatever he pleases.
4 Their idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
5 They have mouths, but do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
6 They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
7 They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
they make no sound in their throats.
8 Those who make them are like them;
so are all who trust in them.
9 O Israel, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
12 The Lord has been mindful of us; he will bless us;
he will bless the house of Israel;
he will bless the house of Aaron;
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord,
both small and great.
14 May the Lord give you increase,
both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
16 The heavens are the Lord’s heavens,
but the earth he has given to human beings.
17 The dead do not praise the Lord,
nor do any that go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord
from this time on and for evermore.
Praise the Lord!
