Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 6

A Tree and Its Fruit

43 “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
And Into Your Courts With Praise,
For Your Are Eternal,
Omnipotent,
And Righteous,
Our Creator,
and The Creator of All That Is!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Two Stories about "Scripture Dipping":

This is an old joke, and is not original with me. I will tell it the best as I remember it.

A business man who was experiencing a bad turn consulted an old country preacher. The preacher waved an ancient, leather-bound King James Bible and said:

"Well, son, whenever I don't know what to do about something, I just flop this here Bible open and put my finger down on the page. There's always an answer for me!"

Years later, the old preacher was walking along the beach and there was the business man, lounging in an expensive cabana, surrounded by admiring women, and drinking a martini. The stunned preacher asked the man if he had indeed followed his advice.

"Sure did!" said the business man. "It saved my life!"

By now, the preacher had become very curious as to what passage of scripture had turned this man's life around, and so he asked him where his finger had landed.

The business man roared with laughter.

"CHAPTER ELEVEN!"

The second story is personal and really happened. Mom was having a very hard time with depression, and her friend Pauline recommend that she open a Bible anywhere and read what was on the page. Mom pulled out the dust-covered Bible, flipped it open, put her finger down and then laughed as she closed the book. Years later, I asked her what Passage she had put her finger on.

Oh, it was silly," she said "It was about King Saul peeing in a cave. It didn't help me at all. It just made me LAUGH OUT LOUD."

I thought about this for a second. Then I asked, What was the problem that caused you to go Scripture Dipping?"

"Depression".

"And what is the cure for depression?" I asked.

We looked at each other and then we both said it at the same time:

"LAUGHTER!"

Yesterday, we explored the much misused Passage "...Judge not, lest ye be judged..." You will notice that I posted an ellipsis at both the beginning and the end of this sentence to indicate that there is something before and after that is missing. That missing thing is called Context. Without context, anything can be quoted and implied to mean something entirely different. Jesus was not saying "NEVER judge anything or anybody, and just let sin run rampant". He is telling us that we must first clean up our own act before we are in a position to judge anybody. Anything less than that is called "Hypocrisy".

Today's reading provides further context to Yesterday's. We are told to "JUDGE" a tree by its fruit. A bramble will have thorns like a prized rose bush, but it will never give you roses. I will cultivate a rose bush and even risk getting stuck by a thorn, because I know that, in June, I ham going to see some beautiful roses come forth. But, if I provide the same care and sacrifice for a bramble, or even do more than is required, it will never produce roses. I have to make a judgment. Will I continue pouring time and effort into the bramble, or put on my heavy work gloves and pull it up?

So, the next time the adversary tries to bamboozle you with "JUDGE NOT", just remember the Bramble and the Rose. Context is EVERYTHING.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 41

To the leader. A Psalm of David.

1 Happy are those who consider the poor;*
the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble.
2 The Lord protects them and keeps them alive;
they are called happy in the land.
You do not give them up to the will of their enemies.
3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed;
in their illness you heal all their infirmities.*

4 As for me, I said, ‘O Lord, be gracious to me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.’
5 My enemies wonder in malice
when I will die, and my name perish.
6 And when they come to see me, they utter empty words,
while their hearts gather mischief;
when they go out, they tell it abroad.
7 All who hate me whisper together about me;
they imagine the worst for me.

8 They think that a deadly thing has fastened on me,
that I will not rise again from where I lie.
9 Even my bosom friend in whom I trusted,
who ate of my bread, has lifted the heel against me.
10 But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,
and raise me up, that I may repay them.

11 By this I know that you are pleased with me;
because my enemy has not triumphed over me.
12 But you have upheld me because of my integrity,
and set me in your presence for ever.

13 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.Amen and Amen.
