Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Blessed
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Present and True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the beginning from The End!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space
With Your Word and Your Omniscient Imagination!
LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.
Your creation is there but to proclaim YOUR GLORY.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I got a very disheartening letter last week. My Physician of seven years is retiring and moving away. This means I have to get a new doctor. There are others in his group practice, but they aren't the same. One of the things I loved about Dr. Paul was that he treated me as a real person, not just the next patient in line. His attention to detail and competence were enhanced by his great personality. He explained things to me, and was meticulous about details that some others may have left out.
Chapter 3 of the Gospel of Luke contains a Genealogy. You will notice that, unlike Matthew's Genealogy, which starts with Abraham and moves forward to Jesus, Luke's Genealogy starts with Jesus and goes backwards, all the way to God. Also, some of the names after David are different. Bible Scholars differ as to why this is so.
Perhaps the clue is provided in the first sentence of the Genealogy:
"He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,"
Joseph was Jesus's legal father, but not His biological father. Matthew's Gospel starts right out with Joseph's Lineage and it goes back through the Royal Line of King David. Therefore, Jesus was a legal relative of King David. In Luke's Gospel, a different line, also going through King David, is presented, but it continues all the way back to God. Could this be the Genealogy of Mary, the Mother of Jesus? That would establish Jesus's bloodline back to David through His Mother.
Although it wasn't common at the time to trace people's lineage through the Mother, it is common practice today among Jewish People to define a Jew as someone whose mother was Jewish. And, just a thought. Matthew's Genealogy has FOUR Women besides Mary mentioned, all of whom had difficult circumstances to overcome (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba).
Luke has already established the Virgin Birth in his Gospel, so it makes sense that he would trace the Genealogy of Jesus through His Mother rather than Joseph. But he still mentions Joseph as the father of Jesus, just so that there is no misunderstanding about Jesus having a legal father.
Dr. Luke includes details that others might leave out.

Psalm 111
1 Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
2 Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
3 Full of honour and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures for ever.
4 He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.
5 He provides food for those who fear him;
he is ever mindful of his covenant.
6 He has shown his people the power of his works,
in giving them the heritage of the nations.
7 The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
8 They are established for ever and ever,
to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant for ever.
Holy and awesome is his name.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practise it* have a good understanding.
His praise endures for ever.

May the same God who connected you with your beloved Dr. Paul now connect you with just the right doctor for this next phase of your life.
In the meantime, may He also (He’s the original multitasker) ensure Jerusalem’s peace. AMEN!
