Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 1
The Birth of John the Baptist
57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy. 59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60 but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.”
61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.”
62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Hallowed Be Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are The Most High!
Abba, Father,
How Wonderful You Are!
Your Mercy is From Everlasting to Everlasting
We Thank You For Your Grace,
And For Your Steadfast Love.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Here are a few stories about names:
1. Emma
My Nephew and his wife were expecting a child. From the Ultrasound, they were able to discern that the baby was a girl, so they designed the nursery accordingly. Ruffles, pastel colors, and cute little bumblebee designs graced the walls as the expectant couple waited with delight for their new daughter. They had even chosen a name for the little girl...Emma.
The Baby Shower was a big party in a restaurant, and my sister, (Emma's Grandma-to-be), had created the most beautiful dollhouse, shaped like a Fairy-Tale Castle. It was made of wood, opened up like a suitcase, and had all the towers and parapets to make it look authentic. My sister painted every stone and shingle, and painted a banner on the front that said:
"EMMA'S CASTLE".
It was the hit of the Party. A month later, Emma was born, but, for some reason, she didn't "look like an Emma". Her Dad and Mom decided that she looked more like a "Violet" and so that is her name. My sister wall have to visit with her paint box to fix the banner over the castle door.
2. The Passport
Because of his awesome sales record, Al and his wife (my in-laws) were given a prize that was beyond their wildest dreams...an all-expense paid trip to Hong Kong. This required a passport, so Al went through the process of getting the documents together to obtain one. Al knew that his real name was Abraham, and that he was born in Detroit, so he went there to find his birth certificate.
The records department in Detroit had no Birth Certificate for an Abraham, an Al, or an Avram, born on the day in question. They did, however, have a birth certificate for a NATHAN, born of Al's Parents on Al's Birthday, in the Hospital where Al was born. So, it was him, obviously. His legal name was Nathan, and Al recalled vague stories during his childhood about his parents disagreeing on what to name their youngest of three sons. Al had to go through the legal process of proving he was actually Nathan, and then another process to legally change his name to Abraham before he could get his Passport. My in-laws finally DID get to Hong Kong, but said that the Chinese Food there was horrible and not nearly as good as what you could get at Wongs in Chelsea MA.
3. Roman Names.
In Ancient Rome, babies were given a whole string of names that indicated their families, regions, and even birth order. Boys were often just known as "Segundus" (meaning the second son) or even "Posthumous" meaning that he was born after the death of his father. Often, titles became names, as in "Augustus" or "Caesar". It is really hard to keep track of the names when reading about the Roman Empire.
Evidently, it was customary to name people after relatives in First Century Judea. Even Zachariah (Zacharias in the KJV) is known by a number of variations in different translations. He probably had even more names than that, saying whose son he was, where he was from, and so on. But the Angel in the Temple had given him explicit instructions regarding the naming of this Miracle Baby. And so, the final decision went to him, and he declared (in writing):
"HIS NAME IS JOHN."
And So It Was Written, and So It Was DONE.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 88
A Song. A Psalm of the Korahites. To the leader: according to Mahalath Leannoth. A Maskil of Heman the Ezrahite.
1 O Lord, God of my salvation,
when, at night, I cry out in your presence,
2 let my prayer come before you;
incline your ear to my cry.
3 For my soul is full of troubles,
and my life draws near to Sheol.
4 I am counted among those who go down to the Pit;
I am like those who have no help,
5 like those forsaken among the dead,
like the slain that lie in the grave,
like those whom you remember no more,
for they are cut off from your hand.
6 You have put me in the depths of the Pit,
in the regions dark and deep.
7 Your wrath lies heavy upon me,
and you overwhelm me with all your waves.
Selah
8 You have caused my companions to shun me;
you have made me a thing of horror to them.
I am shut in so that I cannot escape;
9 my eye grows dim through sorrow.
Every day I call on you, O Lord;
I spread out my hands to you.
10 Do you work wonders for the dead?
Do the shades rise up to praise you?
Selah
11 Is your steadfast love declared in the grave,
or your faithfulness in Abaddon?
12 Are your wonders known in the darkness,
or your saving help in the land of forgetfulness?
13 But I, O Lord, cry out to you;
in the morning my prayer comes before you.
14 O Lord, why do you cast me off?
Why do you hide your face from me?
15 Wretched and close to death from my youth up,
I suffer your terrors; I am desperate.*
16 Your wrath has swept over me;
your dread assaults destroy me.
17 They surround me like a flood all day long;
from all sides they close in on me.
18 You have caused friend and neighbour to shun me;
my companions are in darkness.
