Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 14
Gethsemane
32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”
35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[f] Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Blessed and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
How Magnificent,
How Holy,
How Sanctified and Glorious!
When I Awake in the Morning,
You Are There.
All Through the Day,
You Are With Me.
And When I go to Sleep at Night,
You Are Still Watching Over Us All.
For You Neither Slumber Nor Sleep.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Jay's beloved stepfather, who lived in Manhattan, passed away. Jay caught a plane to NYC to stay for the seven days of mourning and comfort visits known as "sitting shivah". He stayed at the Marriott in Lower Manhattan which was located in the World Trade Center. Since the rituals involved seven evenings, Jay's days were free to take his buddy around New York City and show him the sights. He would be there for an entire week, and there was lots to see.
Bright and early on Monday Morning, Jay flipped a coin to determine where they would visit first. Heads would be the World Trade Center, and Tails would be Central Park. The coin came up "HEADS" so Jay and his buddy went to the Twin Towers. They ate in the Restaurant at the top, visited Art Galleries and Museums, Shopped, and spent the whole day there. In the afternoon, they parted with the prospect of meeting in front of the Hotel at 9:00AM the next day to tour Central Park.
The next morning, a beautiful Autumn day, found Jay waiting for his friend in front of the Hotel. Suddenly, a plane slammed into the World Trade Center. Jay was riveted to the spot. What a terrible accident! Soon the street was full of Emergency Personnel to deal with this "plane crash". Then, unbelievably, a second plane crashed into the other tower. It was then that Jay realized that this wasn't an "accident" at all, but a planned event. Still, he was rooted to the spot, and couldn't move. Pandemonium surrounded him. It was as if he were in a daze.
Then, the Towers began to crumble. A huge cloud of toxic dust and debris came barreling down the street. Jay and the people around him had one impulse: RUN! Jay was caught up in a massive wave of fleeing people, who somehow moved as a body, away from the building.
As if by magic, the automatic doors of a pharmacy opened up. Jay and several others ducked inside the store, and watched the crowd and the cloud go past them.
Jay was unable to return to his home in Florida for another month. He stayed with relatives in New York, and since there was no transportation available, had to borrow somebody's car to drive home to Florida. I was so relieved when he finally was able to call me and tell me his story. He remembered every detail, including the fact that he had left all of his clothes and possessions behind at the Hotel at the World Trade Center. Jay was a reliable Witness to a Turning Point in History. Jay (not his real name) was my Agent who got me Music Jobs, but he was also a very dear friend. He is one of the people I miss the most since I moved away from Florida.
Mark's Gospel is unique in that it tells a story about a Witness to a Cataclysmic World Event, who had to flee, and leave his clothes behind. The Event was the Arrest of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. When a person is an eyewitness to such an event, he never forgets it.
It is speculated that the Youth Who Ran Away Naked could have been Mark himself. Like Jay, Mark was able to give a terse, factual account that includes details that nobody would have known unless they had been there.
The arrest of an innocent man on trumped-up charges is, in itself, an egregious breach of the Contract between the People and the Government. There is a REASON God included "Bearing False Witness" to the Ten Commandments. When one murders a person's reputation, you are, in fact, taking their life and freedom away from them.
In the case of Jesus, it was even worse, because He was betrayed by a so-called "Friend". Not only that, it was during one of the holiest weeks of the Hebrew Year. It was THE Turning Point in History.
Mark makes sure that we will never forget it. According to most Bible Scholars, Mark was the First to write it all down.

Psalm 64
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint;
preserve my life from the dread enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
from the scheming of evildoers,
3 who whet their tongues like swords,
who aim bitter words like arrows,
4 shooting from ambush at the blameless;
they shoot suddenly and without fear.
5 They hold fast to their evil purpose;
they talk of laying snares secretly,
thinking, ‘Who can see us?*
6 Who can search out our crimes?*
We have thought out a cunningly conceived plot.’
For the human heart and mind are deep.
7 But God will shoot his arrow at them;
they will be wounded suddenly.
8 Because of their tongue he will bring them to ruin;*
all who see them will shake with horror.
9 Then everyone will fear;
they will tell what God has brought about,
and ponder what he has done.
10 Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord
and take refuge in him.
Let all the upright in heart glory.

By day the Lord commands his faithful love; by night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. (Ps. 42:8) In prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, for our dear families and friends, for our persecuted brothers and sisters, for our Nation.
