Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 14
The Last Supper
12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”
19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”
20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me. 21 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
We Come into Your Presence With Praise and Thanksgiving.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High,
You Alone Are The One True God!
Praise You, Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to You.
Let God Arise,
And His Enemies be Scattered!
The Lord builds up Jerusalem,
he gathers the outcasts of Israel.
You heal the broken-hearted,
and bind up their wounds.
You determine the number of the stars.
You give to all of them their names.
Great are You, Lord, and Abundant in Power,
Your Understanding is Beyond Measure.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

The Luggage Carousel was a nightmare. One after another, identical suitcases came cascading on the conveyor belt, as people flipped them over, read tags, and tried to determine if a bag was theirs before it escaped them and had to come around again. However, I knew what to look for. My bag had a big bandanna tied to it. The Bandanna had the Jolly Roger emblazoned on it it Bright Hot Pink. It was so unique and incongruous that it identified by bag immediately. I saw it coming, poised myself for the pickup, and grabbed it before it could pass me. Then I went on my way, leaving the chaos behind.
Jesus told His disciples to go into Jerusalem and follow a man who would be carrying a jug of water. Well, that could be anybody. What if they spoke to the wrong guy? It would be like a baggage carousel where all the suitcases were the same.
Here is where cultural context s very important when we read the Gospels. In First Century Jerusalem, MEN didn't carry water. That was a Woman's Job. There was no running water in any of the homes (except perhaps in a Roman Villa), and the Walk To The Well was part of a Woman's Daily Routine. The Well became a place of fellowship, news gathering, gossip, and socialization. It had a long history in Israel. It is where Abraham's Servant found a Bride for Isaac, where Jacob fell in love with Rachel, where Moses met Zipporah, and where the Samaritan Woman met Jesus. A man carrying a jug of water from the city well back to his home was as unusual sight as a bandanna with a hot pink Jolly Roger on it. And THIS particular man had an upper room large enough to accommodate Jesus and His twelve disciples for a Passover Seder.
There are three other accounts that have the actual words of Jesus as He was breaking bread. (Mt. 26, LK. 22, and 1 Cor. 11) These words form the very heart of the Christian Communion Service.
You will note that when Jesus speaks of His impending Suffering and Death, He refers to Himself as "The Son of Man". Perhaps this is a reference to the Suffering Servant in Isaiah 53. It seems as though the disciples are still in denial about the nature of what is to come within the next 24 hours.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 14
To the leader. Of David.
1 Fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
there is no one who does good.
2 The Lord looks down from heaven on humankind
to see if there are any who are wise,
who seek after God.
3 They have all gone astray, they are all alike perverse;
there is no one who does good,
no, not one.
4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon the Lord?
5 There they shall be in great terror,
for God is with the company of the righteous.
6 You would confound the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is their refuge.
7 O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion!
When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people,
Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.
