Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 10

The Little Children and Jesus

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified,
Sanctified,
and Hallowed Be Your Most Holy and Glorious Name!
You Are So Holy
and Worthy of Praise and Worship,
We are Overwhelmed by Your Glory!
It is You Who Have Made The Earth and All it Contains,
from the tiniest of Creatures,
to the Greatest of the Mountains,
Forests and Deserts.
It is You Who Command the Motion of the Stars,
The Galaxies,
and the Great Singularities of Time and Space,
And it is You Who Create new Life in the Secret Place of a Mother's Womb!
Oh, Father,
You Are So Wonderful,
So Glorious,
So Magnificent,
And Mere Words Don't even Tell The Story of Your Awesome Splendor!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Three of my students were in a concert that involved grades 5-12 in a very affluent community. The town has an excellent school system, with a large auditorium that is also used for events and town meetings. I promised my 5th and 6th Grade students that I would make every effort to attend.

I arrived early, and chose a seat in the middle of a row so that I would,t have to keep getting up for others to find their seats. However, as more people arrived, they would choose seats on the other side of me, and pass between the narrow seats. It was so warm that I had peeled off my outer jacket, my hoodie, and a sweatshirt, and held them, as well as my ample purse, in my lap, so standing for the seat-seekers was difficult, but I politely made way for the families who were attending. A family with a baby were sitting right behind me.

After all the seats were filled, the program began. The Fifth Grade got up first, and there was one of my students, in a suit, and playing the Cello. I was so proud of him! Then the baby behind me threw a Pringle Can at my head. I picked it up and returned it to the Mom, she murmured, "Sorry.", and the fifth graders went back to their seats. Then the Sixth Graders went up, and the Baby started kicking me in the head. Rather than turn around to say anything, I leaned forward in my seat to be out of range. This was hard because of all the stuff in my lap, but I didn't want to be a cranky old lady and the family's concert. I looked and looked, but couldn't see my Sixth Grade Student in the string section. I'm wondering if he even showed up for the concert.

During the break between the Sixth Grade and the Middle School Orchestra I leaned back in my seat a bit, hoping the kicking would stop. At that point a youth with a backpack joined his family, turned to sit, and the backpack (full of textbooks?) smacked me in the head. "Sorry." the kid murmured. There was no way to change seats, as it was now Standing Room Only. So I settled in for the Middle School and High School portions.

My third student (Viola in the High School Group) was nowhere to be seen in the huge ensemble on the stage. For a Grand Finale, ALL of the kids were onstage for one final triumphant Piece. The baby had resumed kicking, but this time, she confined her kicks to the back of my seat, so I closed my eyes and imagined that I was on an eleven hour flight to Hawaii. The seat-kicking really brought back a memory of better days. LOL. "Suffer the Children", indeed.

After yesterday's difficult Passage, it is such a pleasure to do Today's. Everybody loves Today's Verse.

Most of us know this verse with the old-fashioned word "Suffer", which, in the time of King James, meant "allow". However, "Suffer" means something else entirely in our own era. The English Language changes so much over the years. Learning this verse in childhood, I imagined Jesus with kids crawling all over Him, pulling His hair, and making Him "suffer". Of course, we know that Jesus was simply telling the disciples to allow the children access to Him.

Religious activities in those days were confined to adults. When a child matured, he would be introduced to the responsibilities of his faith, sometimes with a ceremony. We have similar things in our own society, with Confirmation Ceremonies and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Jesus, however, astounded the Teachers of the Law with His wisdom when He was only 12. (Luke 2) When His parents finally found Him after searching for three days, He asked them why they didn't know that He would be "in His Father's House"?

Jesus said that Children had "access" to Him, and, because of their innocence, were receptive to God's Love, even more than adults.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 65

To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.

1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.

5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.

9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.

Amen. The Lord has specifically told me not to be irritated by noisy, overactive, crying kids in church. He said it was okay with Him and “Don’t be a cranky old lady”
