Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 8
Jesus Predicts His Death
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. 32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
You are Forever Holy and Righteous.
How Excellent is Your Name!
It is You Who Stretched out the Heavens,
And it is You Who laid the Foundations of the Earth.
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
and You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
Eternal, and Almighty,
We Can Do Nothing But
Fall On Our Faces Before You
in Endless Worship and Thanksgiving!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 132
A Song of Ascents.
1 O Lord, remember in David’s favor
all the hardships he endured;
2 how he swore to the Lord
and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,
3 ‘I will not enter my house
or get into my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5 until I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob.’
6 We heard of it in Ephrathah;
we found it in the fields of Jaar.
7 ‘Let us go to his dwelling-place;
let us worship at his footstool.’
8 Rise up, O Lord, and go to your resting-place,
you and the ark of your might.
9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness,
and let your faithful shout for joy.
10 For your servant David’s sake
do not turn away the face of your anointed one.
11 The Lord swore to David a sure oath
from which he will not turn back:
‘One of the sons of your body
I will set on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
and my decrees that I shall teach them,
their sons also, for evermore,
shall sit on your throne.’
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;
he has desired it for his habitation:
14 ‘This is my resting-place for ever;
here I will reside, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless its provisions;
I will satisfy its poor with bread.
16 Its priests I will clothe with salvation,
and its faithful will shout for joy.
17 There I will cause a horn to sprout up for David;
I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.
18 His enemies I will clothe with disgrace,
but on him, his crown will gleam.’

In the Book of Zechariah, there are four mysterious people known as the "Four Craftsmen". They are believed o be the Heralds of the Messianic Age. According to various Hebrew Scholars these are:
1. Messiah Ben Yosef: A Messianic Figure descended from the Half-Tribe of Ephraim, who was the son born to the Patriarch Joseph while he was in Egypt. (You remember Joseph, and all the things he went through at the hands of his own family. It just so happens to be my favorite OT Story.)
2. Messiah Ben David: This Messiah traces His Lineage back to King David, of the Tribe of Judah. David was a King and a Warrior, and this Messiah that bears his name was to be the same.
3. Elijah the Prophet: Elijah is the Forerunner of Messiah and announces His arrival. This is predicted by the Prophet Malachi, and is commemorated every Passover with a place at the Table set for Elijah. Christians believe that John The Baptist fulfilled this role.
4. The Righteous Priest: There aren't as many Jewish commentaries about this Craftsman, but there is a lot about Him in the New Testament Book of Hebrews, calling Jesus our "Great High Priest".
It would look as if, from Zechariah, that there are four Messianic Figures we should be looking for. Isaiah also shows a different Messiah than the Conquering King Messiah Ben David. especially in Isaiah 53, we read of a Suffering Servant who takes on the sins of many, although He Himself is innocent.
That sounds a lot like what Joseph went through. Perhaps 'Messiah Ben Yosef', the Messiah Who Suffers, 'Messiah Ben David', the Messiah that Reigns as King, and 'The Righteous Priest' are all the same Person. This is a very brief approach to this Scriptural Paradox, and I'm not a Hebrew Scholar by any stretch of the imagination. I just know that as a young child, I could not imagine what Jesus went through, even though He was Innocent. The injustice of it all bothered me terribly. Like Peter, I was appalled at the very thought.
When Peter made his declaration of Faith to the question, "Who Do You Say I Am?", he may have been thinking about "Messiah Ben David". What a time to be alive! Jesus was going to liberate Israel from the Romans and set up His Kingdom, all in Peter's lifetime. And Peter was in on the ground floor. But Jesus wasn't finished. He then began to tell Peter about the "Suffering Servant" part..."Messiah Ben Yosef". This caused Peter to actually rebuke Jesus. "GOD FORBID!" Jesus responds by rebuking Satan himself, who would be delighted if Jesus skipped that part of His ministry. In fact, the Temptation in the Desert was all about "skipping that part". Jesus knew that Satan would even use the impetuous, passionate, Peter to sidetrack "Messiah Ben Yosef".
While Jesus was the Son of God, conceived by The Holy Spirit, his earthy father just happened to be named Yosef. And, Yosef was a Carpenter, and trained his Foster Son in the Trade. So Jesus was not only the "son" of Yosef, He was also a Craftsman.

Ping to all. I had a rough morning with my computer, had to do the thread twice because I lost the first one, and forgot the ping list on the second. Sorry.
Thank you Hiskid for calling it to my attention.
