Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 6
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”

37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”

They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”

38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.”

When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”

39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Blessed and Glorious is Your Most Wonderful and Holy Name!
How Perfect Your Plan and Your Promise,
And How Magnificent Your Precepts and Your Provision.
You See The Beginning From The End,
And The End from The Beginning.
You Are Not Bound By Time And Space,
Because You Created Them in The First Place!
We are so quick to second-guess Your Plan,
To try an “Figure You Out",
To "Put You on Our Schedule",
When what we SHOULD do is Fall on our faces before You and Worship You,
With Our Whole Heart,
Our Whole Mind,
and Our Whole Being!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

While it isn't hard to teach Rhythm to children, it is VERY difficult to teach them how to read Note Values in Sheet Music. Whole-notes, half-notes, and quarter-notes aren't a problem, but as soon as one gets into dotted notes and flagged notes (eighths, sixteenths, and so on), it starts getting tricky. This is because children don't start learning fractions until a later grade in school. I have devised a plan that will get them to understand down to the sixteenth notes (two flags). It involves construction paper, crayons, scissors, and a ruler.

First, I draw a big circle and cut it out. I get the child to decorate the circle as his or her favorite kind of Pizza (usually plain cheese). Then I ask the child if they would be happy if the Pizza was delivered uncut. (That would be like a "Whole Note"). Of course, an uncut Pizza is no good. It has to be sliced.

So, with the straight edge and the scissors, I cut the Pizza in Half. (Half-Notes). There is the same amount of Pizza but now it is in two slices.

"You have to cut it again!" the Child exclaims.

So I cut each half in half again, making four slices (Quarter-Notes). Of course, the amount of Pizza is the same, but now it's in four equal pieces. Since there are four people in the family, that should suffice, but the Child says that Pizza doesn't arrive that way. Each person gets TWO slices because the quarters are cut in half to make eight pieces. That would make it Eighth-Notes, and we slice the pieces again. Reassembled, it looks like a real Pizza, as delivered. But it is STILL the same amount of Pizza.

"What if eight more people show up? I ask. "We will have to to slice each eighth in half so now we have one Pizza made into sixteen slices."

"That's just DUMB." says the Child. "The pieces will be too small. Just go online and order another Pizza!"

Modern theologians will sometimes go to absurd lengths to debunk Miracles. While I can't cite the source (forgive me), I remember hearing long ago that the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes was a "Miracle of Sharing". In other words, people shared whatever they had and everybody was satisfied with his little tiny "slice". But the Gospels don't support this idea. There were baskets of fragments left over. Not only were the multitude's basic needs met, but there was an overabundance of food. The loaves and fishes were not divided. They were MULTIPLIED.

Even a Child can figure that out.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 123

A Song of Ascents.

1 To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned in the heavens!
2 As the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maid
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
until he has mercy upon us.

3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough of contempt.
4 Our soul has had more than its fill
of the scorn of those who are at ease,
of the contempt of the proud.

Great music lesson! Pizza.

Yes, I heard the “sharing story” too.

I thought of when I discovered the conservation of mass in physics on my own as a kid.

I loved potato chips. Thought that if I broke them up, I’d have more chips. And I did have more chips. But not more chips—as in the mass was the same no matter how I divided it.

This defies the law of physics.

Yet, I thought this miracle also imitated life—in that when cells divide, they multiply, and life grows.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
