Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 3
Crowds Follow Jesus

7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed. 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him. 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty and Eternal Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful You Are!
Your Magnificence and Perfection are Overwhelming.
And yet, even more so, Your Justice,
Your Righteousness,
and Your Profound Holiness!
For It is You Who Made All That Exists,
From the Mightiest Galaxies to the Tiniest Atom.
You Know Us Inside and Out.
Our Hearts and Thoughts belong to You.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham,
and Indeed of ALL People.
Your Promises and Precepts are Eternal.
Your Judgments and Word are Forever True.
There is No Shadow of Turning With You.

You Are Faithful Even When We Are Not.
You ARE The Truth.
Let God be True,
and every man be a liar.
Let others choose whom they may serve,
but as for me and my house,
We Shall Serve You, Abba.
And in serving YOU,
We Choose to Believe and Obey Your Word.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Psalm 16

A Miktam of David.

1 Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.’*

3 As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble,
in whom is all my delight.

4 Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows;*
their drink-offerings of blood I will not pour out
or take their names upon my lips.

5 The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
I have a goodly heritage.

7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
8 I keep the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
my body also rests secure.
10 For you do not give me up to Sheol,
or let your faithful one see the Pit.

11 You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures for evermore.

"The Devil Made Me Do It!"

This line from the Late Comedian Flip Wilson always got a laugh. It was fun to see him play that Ancient Excuse that goes all the way to The Garden of Eden. The truth is, though, the Devil can lie, urge, manipulate, deceive, and even try to coerce, but he can't MAKE you do anything. Both Adam and Eve were presented with a choice, and, as the Old Knight in the Indiana Jones movie said:

"They Chose Poorly."

Not everything is caused by demons. Physical injuries, viruses, germs, economic misfortune, and natural disasters happen all the time without the intervention of "The Devil". However, a lot of these misfortunes have their root in evil. A most recent example would be the deliberate creation of a deadly virus in order to produce a Biological Weapon. Now THAT is evil. Could we posit that the scientists who embarked upon this "project" were possessed by the devil? Were they innocent people who were manipulated into thinking that they were doing research that would benefit humanity, or did they make the conscious choice to do evil? These are questions that may never be answered in our lifetime, but they do make you think!

The "Problem of Evil" has baffled Theologians for Millennia, so we are not going to solve it today. There's not much we can do about the unseen world, but at least we can try to steer our "choices" in the direction of Righteousness and Dignity. We can rely on the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and courage, so that we do not "Choose Poorly."

There will be those who say that demons and the devil don't exist at all. Cases of Possession and Oppression can be attributed to a chemical imbalance in the brain, or Mental Illness. My take on that is that Mental Illness does indeed exist, and is a plague on Mankind. So is Cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, and countless other physical and psychological ailments. While the Fall of Man in the Garden is the original source for all disease, the disease itself is not a "demon".

On the other hand, there are some genuine cases of possession for which our Medical Science has no answer. This is totally consistent with the New Testament. When Jesus encountered a needy person, He knew right away if the source of the sickness was physical, mental, or spiritual. Even in cases that seemed similar (such as giving sight to the blind or healing for the deaf) the sources and healing of the disease were different.

Sometimes it was immediately apparent that the source was spiritual. The demons recognized Jesus and used the body of their victim to talk to Him. When this happened, Jesus commanded the spirits to leave the victim, and commanded them to keep their mouths shut concerning Jesus's True Identity. Not only was the timing not right, but demons were not appropriate heralds of The Messiah's coming.

As the Apostle James says:

" Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7 KJV)

That's "Choosing Wisely."

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

“The Devil Made Me Do It!”

I’ve heard a snark when a lady was told by a preacher that evil was a poor choice. She lamented, but the devil was a great comfort her. (No responsibility—like victimhood.)

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem as well as our beloved America.
