Michael Matt to Bishop Schneider: “Should priests comply with the order to suppress the Latin Mass?”

Michael Matt to Bishop Schneider: “Should priests comply with the order to suppress the Latin Mass?”

They say that rumors are nothing more than gossip with a purpose. Well, when it comes to the winged rumors about Francis cracking down on the Latin Mass again – perhaps as soon as Easter Monday – let’s hope that gossip is all it turns out to be.

On the other hand, forewarned is forearmed. And, whether the rumors are based in reality or not, it’s a safe bet that, sooner or later, the Vatican will be here and, trust me, they won’t be here to help.

So, what do we do? First off, don’t panic. We’ve been here before. Back in 1976, for example, when the “reformed” rite of Confirmation sometimes included bishops dressing up like Little Bo-Peep, my father declined to take a chance on validity. He asked Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre to confirm his children, including yours truly, and that was that. Lefebvre had no permission from the local ordinary to proceed with the Confirmation and, somehow, we all survived.

Those days may well be coming back, in which case we’ll do it all over again. We’re not going to comply. As I promised in a recent Remnant Underground, no matter what happens next we’ll be praying for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis at Tridentine Masses all over the world.

Bishop Schneider knows something about going underground. He received his first Holy Communion in secret and his family practiced their faith underground for years after the the brutal Soviet regime had outlawed God.

Still, now is not the time to presume the best. We’re up against Principalities and Powers and we need to prepare for the worst. We need to talk to our priests and to good bishops. We need to put together a game plan that in some cases may even include pooling our funds and purchasing an old church building. Going underground means, well, going underground.

In any event, we need to get the conversation going now. We did not settle for the Novus Ordo fifty years ago, and we won’t settle for it now. And neither are we leaving the Church...ever! As His Excellency Bishop Schneider observes in the interview below, no matter what happens, our countermeasures will be only temporary. If we need to, we’ll go back down into the catacombs but not forever. God will see to that.

Please watch and share this video with everyone you know, especially good priests who at this moment are discerning what to do.

By the way, Bishop Schneider knows something about going underground. He received his first Holy Communion in secret and his family practiced their faith underground for years after the the brutal Soviet regime had outlawed God. His Excellency has suffered for the faith, in other words, and yet he lived to see the regime collapse. . . and so will we.

Let us carefully consider Bishop Schneider’s advice: Stay in the Church, pray for the pope, but do not obey evil commands. Keep the Faith, and God will see to the rest.

Here now, is Bishop Schneider, a good shepherd, who will remain with us—with his flock—regardless of what the wolves do next:

When listening to Bishop Schneider, it occurred to me that the schism in the Catholic Church is a lot like the divisions in this Country, as described by Sarah Huckabee last night - between normal and crazy. In either case, the Bishop's advice on dealing with these unholy forces is not to run away or surrender, but to advance an aggressive resistance campaign against crazy and pray that Divine Intervention will intercede to create righteous reform. What other alternates are there?
