Denver, Colo., Jan 26, 2023 / 15:45 pm A Colorado appellate court has ruled against a baker who appeared in court once again for declining to make a cake that contradicts his religious beliefs.
While Jack Phillips’ successful U.S. Supreme Court case concerned his refusal to make a same-sex wedding cake, he now faces a civil lawsuit for declining to make a cake celebrating a purported gender transition of a transgender-identifying attorney.
In a Thursday decision, a Colorado Court of Appeals three-judge panel sided with Autumn Scardina, a man who identifies as a transgender woman. Scardina said Phillips and his Lakewood, Colorado, Masterpiece Cakeshop discriminated when he declined to bake a pink cake with blue frosting to celebrate Scardina’s purported gender change.
Phillips has ruled out making various kinds of cakes he says would violate his Christian religious beliefs. He is represented by the Alliance Defending Freedom legal group, which will appeal the case to the Colorado Supreme Court.
“Free speech is for everyone. No one should be forced to express a message that violates their core beliefs,” Jake Warner, Alliance Defending Freedom senior counsel, said Jan. 26.
“Over a decade ago, Colorado officials began targeting Jack, misusing state law to force him to say things he does not believe,” Warner said. “Then an activist attorney continued that crusade. This cruelty must stop. One need not agree with Jack’s views to agree that all Americans should be free to say what they believe, even if the government disagrees with those beliefs.”
Phillips’ attorneys had appealed a 2021 trial court’s judgment in favor of Scardina, ruling that Phillips and his bakery violated state anti-discrimination law.

These people are just filled with hate and spite.
“Tolerance” my ass. This is just pure harassment. They can go elsewhere but they refuse.
Businesses are not slaves nor indentured servants to anyone. Businesses can refuse the right to service and most public businesses post signs for a whole list of reasons why, and reserve the right for those things not listed explicitly.
Picasso paint me a picture of something that offends you greatly. Nope. Go pound it.
Architects and artists can reject peoples requests. Baking is an art form if it is expressing something and not merely just a functional food, like a tray of lasagna.
This guy and Trump are like Jean Valjean.
They’re going to be harassed by the Left (Insp.Javert), until dead.
Sick shit.

True, however, the problem is that when a protected (against discrimination) class extends not simply to a class based upon such amoral aspects as race, ethnicity, skin color national origin, etc. and includes those whose identity is based upon sexual orientation and its immoral behavior, then just as artists etc. cannot reject peoples requests on the basis of race (including refusal to create a work celebrating a interracial marriage), then it means that on the same basis one cannot refuse to create a special work based upon sexual "orientation" and its behavior.
Meaning once the B in LGBTQ includes bestiality and incest than a artist must create a work that celebrates this.
The issue is that of SCOTUS (by a damnable majority) making the bed for homosexuality and thus forcing all to make the bed. And fostering even children to get into it.
A nation that sanctions abomination is under condemnation and headed for damnation. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Psalms 9:17)

But Conservatives can be thrown out of a restaurant because the owner doesn’t like their politics.
Got it.
IF they really wanted the cake they could have asked for it. But you just know they said “And make it say “Happy coming out day and if you don’t I’ll sue you”.
In order to form a state under federal law, a territory had to agree to “perfect” religious freedom.
The State of Colorado should be judicially ruled out of existence, reverting to a territory without senators, giving Republicans control of the Senate.
Biden should be taken out under Amendment XIV, Section 3, based on his animosity towards Amendment II and his Brady Bill efforts, which violate the Amendment IV right to be secure in one’s possessions. That would make Trump president since Biden was no longer eligible for federal office after his Brady Bill vote.
This makes no sense. It is the very drfinition of insanity...the lefturds doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome.
GET OVER IT! You lost, leftists. You lost!
Great will be his reward in heaven for this ongoing persecution of him.
Exactly.
They are targeting him deliberately.
No they won.
Poor guy has lost almost as many lawsuits as Trump has.
This is happening because SCOTUS did not clearly rule on this case. They simply mumbled that CO was playing too rough.
They wouldn’t want to come to me for a cake. Oh, I would bake them one alright. I sure would not want to try a bite of it though.
