Swedish [Lutheran] Bishop Refuses Ordination of Priest with Traditional Marriage View

Three bishops in the Lutheran Church of Sweden say to refuse to ordain a priest who sees marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

The bishops respond to a survey by the Swedish newspaper Syre. They indicate that they do not accept that people who oppose same-sex marriage become priests in the Church of Sweden, Varlden Idag reports.

Employability

Andreas Holmberg, a bishop in Stockholm, writes in an e-mail to Varlden Idag that he would not ordain a priest who is clear about not ordaining same-sex couples. "This is because, in practice, it would be very difficult for him to a get a priest's position in the Stockholm diocese", Holmberg explains his position to the newspaper. "As a bishop, I need to take responsibility for the employability of those who are ordained as priests."

It is highly unusual for an applicant not to want to marry same-sex couples, says bishop Mikael Mogren from Västerås to Syre. He points out that the topic of gay marriage is always discussed during the admission of a candidate. If someone remains at his traditional view of marriage and persists in not performing same-sex marriages, Mogren will not ordain him. "The answer is no."

Also, Sören Dalevi, a bishop in Karlstad diocese, says to Syre that all priests should "happily and of their own free will marry couples of different sexes as well as couples of the same sex." He stresses that this target is guiding in the admission of priest candidates. Earlier, he told Sveriges Radio that he is always very clear to new priests that his diocese performs gay marriages.

God has to come back soon. We’re destroying everything. The evil thinks its good, the insane thinks its sane. And then they persecute those who don’t go along with their evil and insanity.

It's an "established" church, which means it reflects the will of the ruling class by law. It is of course not the only church in Sweden.

A little over half of Swedes are members of the Church of Sweden, and about 2% of the membership attends services.

The Lutheran Church of Sweden is not a Christian church. It is an apostate abomination.

Sadly, more churches are corrupt than not. I am 66. When I was about 10, my dad told me there are four main societal/cultural institutions. Media. Education. Church. Family. He warned that once the Commies got a strong foothold in all four, the nation would perish shortly thereafter. Thank God for my parents. I’ve been a Conservative my entire life.

As a (real) Lutheran I look at the Church of Sweden as no different than the largest so-called Lutheran synod in the USA, the ELCA. They are essentially no different in what they teach. The only real difference is that the church of Sweden is the official state church of the nation. They therefore function as arm of the Swedish government, and therefore follow the directives of the state before that of the Scriptures. They are clearly post-Lutheran, post-Christian. To put it another way, they will render to Caesar whatever Caesar wants from them and to God whatever they in their arrogance think should be rendered to Him, which is almost nothing.

Protestantism finding it was never a good idea to keep changing doctrines now has to face its own failures.

I have a message for the Lutheran Bishops, Pope Francis, and anyone else who defiantly disregards God's word: You are either on the side of the Lord or you are on the side of evil. God created man in His own Divine image and ordained that there to be only two genders - male and female. If you, whether by special religious authority or otherwise, deliberately defy His word, you will be judged accordingly on judgment day. Individuals who take it upon themselves to be pseudo Gods or superior to God are the personification of the Devil and we all know the Devil's fate who was cast out of God's heavenly kingdom for all eternity.
