Subiaco Abbey, in Subiaco, Arkansas, had its altar smashed with a hammer, and relics inside the altar stolen on Jan. 5, 2023. A suspect has been arrested and is set to be charged in connection with the attack. | Subiaco Abbey

Boston, Mass., Jan 6, 2023 / 13:51 pm The altar of an Arkansas Benedictine monastery was destroyed Thursday, and several relics of ancient saints were stolen.

Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco, Arkansas, said in a press release that on Jan. 5, a man using “a regular hammer and sledgehammer/ax” began destroying the abbey’s marble altar by smashing it in different places. Founded in 1878, Subiaco is home to a community of 39 Benedictine monks.

Jerrid Farnam, 31, of Subiaco, Arkansas, was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with the crimes.

The suspect left a gaping hole in the top of the altar and broke open stones that contain relics, the abbey said. Two reliquaries — small, brass-colored boxes that each contained three relics of saints from more than 1,500 years ago — were stolen, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Father Elijah Owens, OSB, the abbot of the monastery, told CNA Friday that the relics contained in one of the reliquaries were those of St. Boniface, St. Tiberius, and St. Benedict of Nursia.

The other reliquary contained the relics of St. Tiberius, St. Marcellus, and St. Justina, Owens said.

The man approached the tabernacle and removed a cross located on top as well as the tabernacle’s veil before being “interrupted,” the abbey said. Neither the tabernacle nor the Eucharist were damaged, the abbey said.

Visitors to the abbey notified the leadership, and the Logan County Sheriff’s department was called and arrived at the scene. Subiaco Academy, the nearby school of boys in grades 7–12 run by the.....

Was telling someone not long ago that most Catholic altars have a relic of a saint the the priest kisses during mass. They were a lifelong Catholic and never knew.

Bill(the President)and Hillary(the want-a-be)traveled down a closed Highway 22 from the Fort Smith, Arkansas airport(no speech given)to attend a wedding ceremony there once on the grounds. Exited up the “Pig Trail” path to Fayetteville, I believe with a stopover at Turner Bend.

“Turner says Turner Bend was more than an outfitter or supply source; it was a social center, like an office water cooler. State politicians, including a young Bill Clinton, stopped by to shake hands and explain their position to Champ who would then pass the information on to people in the valley that visited the store.”

Not sure about the Mother Teresa visit, Bill and Hillary communion in S. Africa experience while Jesse watched, or explanation by a White House spokesman as to what was what religiously afterwards timeline. Christopher Hitchens(the Teresa basher)and wife’s affidavit did have an immediate effect in a truthful admission by the Bill—blinded by intellect or cowed temporarily, more profound than anything Starr etc.. the true clutch pearls and gasp Hillary moment.

Reminded, I will have to ask someone I use to know if her sister did anything irregular while repairing the roof there un-noticed. Trickle down.

I came across this amazing Arkansas monastery on a meandering motorcycle ride through the Ozarks. It was founded by Swiss monks in the mid-1800’s. It is still vital and active today. It is on a high point with great views 360 degrees. The school is well know and respected.

Let me guess. They will not press charges so the devil worshipper can go out and attack someone else?

The offender must be well-versed in Catholicism, or have a Catholic background, because few people would know that there are relics in each altar.

The altar can be fixed. The relics can take care of themselves with the Lord’s help. The criminal will either feel remorse or hate the Lord permanently. Either/or.
