Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 23

Whose Son Is the Messiah?

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”

“The son of David,” they replied.

43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says,

44  “‘The Lord said to my Lord:
    “Sit at my right hand

until I put your enemies
    under your feet.”’[e]

45 If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” 46 No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,

Hallowed be Your Most Holy Name!

For Your Alone Are Worthy of Our Worship,

For You Alone Are LORD,

You Alone Are the True God.

You Are The Alpha and the Omega

The Aleph-Tav

The Beginning and the End

The Great "I AM"

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Last night, two of my sisters and I rang in the New Year together. We ordered Take-Out and had our own little party playing "Trivial Pursuit"(TM) with a 1981-Vintage game board. That meant that the Questions were over 40 years old. There were a lot of questions about JFK, as his assassination was a pivotal point in that generation's lives. The problem was, a lot has changed in Science, Geography, Geopolitics, and even History in the last 40 years. And so, there was the added challenge of thinking back what the correct answer was in 1981, even though we know differently NOW. We were playing to have FUN, so we gave each other hints with puns and charades and much laughter. Sometimes, an answer would cause us to burst out simultaneously in song, or a Monty Python routine, or a reenactment of a movie scene from "The African Queen" complete with the mimicking of Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.

We probably had more fun than Ryan Seacrest. It has been a very difficult year for all three of us, and we needed it!

As silly and fun as our game was, it pointed out to us that we don't know all the answers. Sometimes things change. New developments and discoveries make old theories moot. Heroes are found out to have feet of clay (a Bible reference), loved ones disappoint us, and Politics and Religion fail to satisfy. Some questions never get answered, and some are argued for centuries. As some of our Roman Catholic friends mourn the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, others are still questioning why he resigned in the first place, over 9 years ago. I wonder if that question will ever be answered in the 2035 Edition of "Trivial Pursuit"(TM).

Just as they do today, Religious Scholars argue about stuff. Any Theology Library contains more books about the Bible than the Bible itself. The Religion Forum right here on this site has far more "Debate" Threads than "Devotional" Threads, because people LOVE to argue. It's our nature, I guess.

The Pharisees of Jesus's day were no different. They were scholars, but it wasn't private study. They knew their Scriptures but had endless debates about the meaning of them. And so, when they questioned Jesus, they knew that, sooner or later, that they would trip Him up. After all, he was a Carpenter from Nazareth, for heaven's sake. He boasted of no School or long period of study (although some modern scholars try to place Him among the Essenes for a period of time...there they go again, speculating and debating!)

So far, every "Gotcha!" question has been met with such wisdom and depth, that they were becoming frustrated.

This latest answer from Jesus was in response to a question about the Messiah. The Pharisees answer Jesus correctly in saying that the Messiah is the Son of David. But then, Jesus quotes a Psalm of David that calls the Messiah "My Lord". How can David call his own son "Lord"? It would mean that the Son of David was greater than his dad. And since David was a King, there was nobody greater than God Himself.

And that's not Trivia.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

HILE the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.
He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 4

To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my right!
You gave me room when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.

2 How long, you people, shall my honour suffer shame?
How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies?
Selah
3 But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.

4 When you are disturbed,* do not sin;
ponder it on your beds, and be silent.
Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices,
and put your trust in the Lord.

6 There are many who say, ‘O that we might see some good!
Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord!’
7 You have put gladness in my heart
more than when their grain and wine abound.

8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace;
for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.
