Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 20

Two Blind Men Receive Sight

29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”

34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven

Hallowed Be Your Name!

You Alone Are Worthy of Our Adoration,

For You Alone Are The One True God and Lord of All.

Help Us Remember,

To Live Peaceably With All,

And Remember That All Things Come Together for Good,

For Those Who Love You and Are Called To Your Purpose.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Psalm 13

To the leader. A Psalm of David.

1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me for ever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I bear pain* in my soul,
and have sorrow in my heart all day long?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God!
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,
4 and my enemy will say, ‘I have prevailed’;
my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

5 But I trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

I have a few stories that come together at the end that will relate to Today's Reading.

1. The Reaction: I have worn glasses since the Seventh Grade, but there had been many advances in Optometry since I was a kid. About 40 years ago, when I worked at a Nursing Home, we had a decent Healthcare Plan that included new glasses every year as long as we went to the HMO for our eye test. The time had come for new glasses, so I went to the facility and was treated by a very nice doctor, who put drops in my eyes to dilate them. I had never had this done before, and I immediately succumbed to one of the worst cases of nausea I had ever experienced. They had to put me in a dark room to lie down until the feeling passed. I lay there for two hours, unable to open my eyes or even move without getting nauseous again. Needless to say, the doctor never got to see my retinas. I vowed that I would NEVER let anyone do that to me again.

When I got back to work after this horrid experience, I looked up my reaction in some recent medical journals. This caught my eye:

"Recent studies have suggested that people who have a bad reaction to eye-dilation drops are at an increased risk of early-onset Alzheimer's Disease"

Since I was, at the time, working with people who suffered from Dementia, I went into total panic mode. I have since found out that the study had been debunked, but the horror of that suggestion remained in my mind. For years (since the 1980's) I have avoided having my eyes dilated, and hadn't experienced any eye problems.

2. Road Maps: I LOVE Road Maps. My saddlebags are full of them. I love to go places, explore new roads on my motorcycle, and then consult the maps to see where I have been. I buy Road Maps at Yard Sales, at Gas Stations, and Thrift Stores. I even have one of the Nile Valley, which came out of a National Geographic. One never knows when one may get the opportunity, like Lawrence of Arabia, to ride a motorcycle from Cairo to other end of the Suez Canal. The map will be helpful! Anyway, I found out that my GPS, when mounted on my windshield, provides a real Road Map in Real Time. It shows all the side streets, whether or not they go through or end in a cul-de-sac, and if there is a pond or a river nearby. I got into a habit right after I visited my sister in Maine, when I used the GPS to find her house. I liked it so much I just left it there on the windshield, with the road unfolding before me. One of my passengers asked me why I had the GPS on, when I already knew where I was going. My reply was "I LOVE MAPS".

3. The Affliction: A little over a week ago, my Right Eye went crazy. I was having blurred, double vision, and instability when I tried to look at things. The inability to focus caused a blinding headache, and I had to cancel FIVE lessons on Friday. Since the weekend intervened, I had to endure the affliction until Monday, when I called my Optometrist. She referred me to an Opthamologist, which required calls to my Insurance Company, my Physician to get a referral, etc, which took several hours of Phone Tag, until I finally secured an appointment a week away. The coordinator said:

"Be sure and bring sunglasses because we are going to DILATE YOUR EYES."

NOOOOOOOOOO! I had managed to avoid this for 40 years! I didn't know if i could go through with it. But I had to overcome my fears and just do it because I was afraid of losing my eyesight to Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, or some other horror. I put on a cd of Bach Cantatas, put an herbal pack on my eyes, lay down on my recliner and PRAYED. I had an hour before I had to go to work and drive around with my wonky eye.

I got in the car, turned it on, and the GPS sprang to life. Suddenly, a voice in my head said:

"TURN IT OFF!"

So I unplugged the GPS, pulled it off the Windshield, and stuck it in the Glove Compartment. Then I went and taught my Lessons as best as I could, and managed to get home safely.

The day of my appointment came, and my eyes felt fine. But I still had to go through the dilation, to check the health of my eye. The doctor saw no evidence of MD, DR, or anything else for that matter. I felt no ill effects from the eyedrops, and drove home in the bright sunshine, wearing my sunglasses, of course. Whether I was miraculously healed of impending blindness, or just given a suggestion to turn off the GPS, I firmly believe that The Lord was involved. In any case, I WAS healed of a horrible memory of having my eyes dilated, and the fear of losing my mind to Alzheimer's Disease. After all, I'm 70 now and still have (most of) all my marbles.

There are a number of stories in the Four Gospels of Jesus giving sight to the Blind. He uses a different method each time. Sometimes he used just His Word, and sometimes He made mud out of dirt and saliva. Sometimes He just declared it, and sometimes He used the "Laying on of Hands". In one instance, He told the Blind man to wash his eyes in a pool of water. It would seem that each healing was custom-designed for the person to be healed. It is not for us to make demands on God as to HOW He will deal with each of us. We can ask, and he tells us we will receive. But there is no set formula for either asking or receiving. God is all good all the time and knows what is best for each of us.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Interesting in magic, the emphasis is on spells or a set of specified rituals to connect to the supernatural.

Jesus did none of those as you said, He healed in a variety of ways and different methods.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

I deal with dry eye now and its quite annoying at times. But as I read through all this today, got me thinking. Maybe I’m just beginning to get my “tears wiped away”. :) God is GOOD all the time. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem. Praying for our Families and homes.
