PARALYTIC AT THE POOL OF BETHESDA |
Good Morning Dan, and a joyful Saturday to each of you!
A fine continuance of miracles presented by our Savior. Sometimes I wonder if He healed intentionally on the Sabbath, to reveal hypocrisy.
#5 Hole
#15 (artist unknown)
#16 Copping
Dan, much appreciative of you many hours of labor to bring us this Bible Art Ministry =:^)
It certainly appears to be the case.
Thanks for your acknowledgment. Leon.
Good Morning, Dan. :-)
Hi, ML! On my way to J.
All are fine examples of this miracle. #3 by Bloch, the great Danish painter well known for his depiction of the ministry of Christ.
#6 by Murillo.
There is some symbolism in the painting by Ramsey at #10. Christ stands between the paralytic and the waters of the pool. The pool represents the false hope of men for healing, Christ, with his larger than life figure, is intentionally obstructing the superstition of men with the promise of eternal healing represented by the sky and the light emanating from above. Very compelling.
#16 by Copping; #19 and #30.
Ramsey’s Christ towers over the paralytic, who has a choice: deal with Him now, or later find out how He towers at the Great White-Throne Judgment.
Your teaching helps us- as we look at each painting, to look more deeply and understand the meanings of the symbols. Thank you =:^)
You are very welcome, InkStone.
#10 reminds me very much of a dream I had many years ago (the coloring and vision). I was, however, so terrified I woke up with a scream. I realized almost immediately how disappointing it was to wake myself and I felt badly about being afraid…but I’ve always remembered this dream and always will.
#11 is so tight, it almost looks like a photograph
Jesus is The Light in #11 and #16, but ever so quiet and gentle
#15 and #30 also nice works
ok
thank you FRiend
Nice! And here we have it explicitly, “Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”
I vote for no. 15 for the depiction of indifference around the paralytic, which was what he truly suffered from.
paralytic: “Woe is me.”
