Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 11
The Father Revealed in the Son
25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD of Hosts,
Our God and Our King,
You are the Commander in Chief of the Universe.
You Speak the Cosmos into Existence.
You Create with Your Word,
And Hold ALL things Together with Your Command.
We ask You To Restore the Soul of America
And lead Us in paths of Righteousness for Your Name's sake.
Give us Leaders who honor Your Word,
And for whom their word is their bond.
We Know that you are With us.
We gladly accept the yoke of discipleship,
Because we know that Your Burden is easy and Your Yoke is light.
Our enemies surround us, But You identify them and anoint us to stand tall.
We Know You are with us, and Will be forever, in this world and the next.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 57
To the leader: Do Not Destroy. Of David. A Miktam, when he fled from Saul, in the cave.
1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
until the destroying storms pass by.
2 I cry to God Most High,
to God who fulfils his purpose for me.
3 He will send from heaven and save me,
he will put to shame those who trample on me.
Selah
God will send forth his steadfast love and his faithfulness.
4 I lie down among lions
that greedily devour* human prey;
their teeth are spears and arrows,
their tongues sharp swords.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth.
6 They set a net for my steps;
my soul was bowed down.
They dug a pit in my path,
but they have fallen into it themselves.
Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast.
I will sing and make melody.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn.
9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10 For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness extends to the clouds.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth.

The 24-Track Two-Inch Wide Tape was rolling, and the clock was ticking. At $60 an hour, this was NOT the time to be composing a new ending for the song. What we did on stage worked great in that context, but the ending just wasn't cutting it in the studio. We had to come up with something else.
My Sister suggested handclaps. The Producer/Engineer went through her library of digital "handclaps" but they all sounded tinny and fake (tick-tock-tick-tock). Then, Sis suggested REAL handclaps with the whole six-piece band standing in a circle and clapping together on cue. The Producer set up the best mikes in the center of a circle, we took up our positions, and rolled the tape.
Lay Your Burden Down (CLAP! CLAP!)
Lay Your Burden Down (CLAP! CLAP!)
Lay Your Burden DOWNNNNNNNNN!
We did it over and over, till it sounded like a huge choir. It was beautiful, and well worth the extra $$$$.
In Today's Recording Environment, the whole thing could have been done with one take, multiplied electronically to sound like the entire population of Brooklyn clapping their hands together. But it wouldn't be the same. There was something about the six of us, singing and clapping together on this one line, over and over, which was a spiritual experience. We were united in prayer.
When we went through the series here called "Music in the Bible", we spoke of the many words for Worship. One of them was the Hebrew Word Yada, which means to worship with your Hands. Waving, Clapping, and Lifting the Hands are all appropriate ways of praying.
The song we were recording was written by me in the very early days of my Christian walk. It is only recorded in analog, and I can't play it for you, but I can share the lyrics:

Come To The Cross c1985
(Matthew 11)
(VERSE 1:)
Come unto Me, all ye heavy laden,
And I will give you rest for your souls.
My burden is easy, My yoke, it is light.
Why walk ye in darkness
when you can be children of light?
(CHORUS )
Come to the Cross, Come to the Cross,
And lay your burden down.
Come to the Cross, Come to the Cross,
And lay your burden down.
(VERSE 2:)
Are you so weary that you can not see,
The Gift that God's given you, for free.
The Price has been paid, the battle is won.
What more can you add
to what Jesus has already done?
(CHORUS 4X)

It is interesting that, in searching for illustrations for Today's Thread, I found that most of them show Jesus holding out His Hands.

Those are great verses of comfort in this world.
I love the last verses set to music and song in Handel’s Messiah, especially.
Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
