Your Amazing Inventiveness and Creativity is celebrated in each strand of the DNA Molecule,

And in Each Sub-Atomic particle that is seen only by the light-speed trail that it leaves behind.!

Your Incredible Variety that ensures that even identical twins have DIFFERENT Personalities,

And all humans having different fingerprints, voice prints, and eye configurations.

Every snowflake...every grain of sand,

My friend and neighbor "Brad" plays in a band that plays Blues, Early Rock, Jazz, and other "Americana". The guys in the band are extremely "woke" but are fine musicians. They are actually nice enough if politics don't come up. One night, they were visiting Brad, sitting around a firepit and playing guitars. They asked me to join them. I sat down, picked up a guitar, and banged out a medley of Van Morisson songs. The members of the band expressed extreme displeasure with me and said:

"Van Morisson used to be OK back-in-the day, but now he's an Anti-Vaxxer! We don't play his songs anymore!"

I handed back the guitar and walked away.

Brad later appologized to me for thier behavior, as it had embarrassed him greatly. We both agreed that a brilliant musician was a brilliant musician, no matter what their politics. Then I shared with him how excited I was because I was going to see Eric Clapton the following month. Brad shook his head sadly.

"He's another one they have cancelled. But I just started playing "Lay Down, Sally", and they all joined in. Ha Ha."

Last night, I attended an Open Mike at a place that has not had them for over two years due to COVID. The place was mobbed. My sister and I got in early so we got our names on the list. We were diving into our Chicken Wings when suddenly Brad and his band walked in and signed up right after me. I was a bit concerned because:

1. I had planned to do my Van Morisson Medley, and had already prepped the drummer and lead guitarist.
2. Some of my clients had come to the restaurant that evening to hear me sing.
3. I have just gotten over COVID and was a bit concerned about my voice.
4. You never know what to expect from "Social Justice Warriors".

I fretted a bit (pun intended) and got up to sing. I started with the Medley and it went over great. Then I did an Original, the lyrics of which are on my home page, and that went well too. Then I did a Fleetwood Mac song, and the place rocked.

Then the Brad's Band got up. they started with a Reggae song, and then did two more by Eric Clapton(!).

The last two and a half years have been an amazing demonstration of the Wide Path vs. the Strait Gate. What started out as a GOOD thing (President Trump clearing the way for emergency development of a life-saving vaccine and offering it free to the American People), turned into a nightmare of Orwellian Group-think. People whom I love and care about have lost their jobs because they had a bad reaction to the first two shots and refused the booster, relationships have been destroyed, family members alienated, and even a friend crippled for life because of a vaccine reaction. What started out as a miracle has become a disaster, with Mandates, Vaccine Passports, and generalized suspicion, distrust, and negativity running rampant. That is the Wide Road leading to destruction. One Size Does NOT Fit All.

Those who chose the narrow path, and asked only for transparency, more research, alternative treatments, or a different direction, were ostracized and marginalized by the greater crowd. In the words of George Orwell:

“During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.”

The institution we call "The Church" is also happily speeding along the Wide Path. Catholic and Protestant, Evangelical and Pentacostal, these institutions and denominations seem quite happy to jump on the bandwagon and become "woke". Meanwhile, those who embrace the religion, faith, liturgies, and morals that they learned in Sunday School are the ones that are forced to leave. In a discussion online about the latest rift in the United Methodist Church, a person asked:

"Why is it always the Conservatives who have to leave, and not the other way around?

Today's reading provides the answer. The Wide Path, "Big Tent", or Popular Church has to compromise its principles in order to fit in with the world. But "Truth" is a very Narrow Gate. There are millions of lies, but only one Truth. Just because something is Popular doesn't mean that it is True. And, just because something is True doesn't mean it's going to be Popular.

God Bless those who are not afraid to play "Lay Down Sally" in a Woke, Cancel-Culture, Environment.
