Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 6

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Lately, in the past year or so, my community has been overrun with rabbits. At first, they were kind of cute, hopping around with thier little cotton tails, nibbling at the plants, and getting squeals of delight from the little kids on their way to the School Bus. But, as we all know, two bunnies turn into 200 bunnies very quickly. Tippy, an Australian Cattle Dog, instinctively chases every bunny she sees, making a normal walk nearly impossible. Lawns become festooned with bunny poop, which looks just like kibble, and probably caused Tippy's latest worm attack. And, since there are so many, it's a Bunny Buffet for the infamous urban predator, the Coyote. Lately, at twilight, I have heard the "yip,yip,yip" of coyote pups, and others have reported seeing at least four of them skulking around.

This morning, I took my usual walk, and enjoyed the foliage. The weather was nice after days and days of rain, and it was quiet along the highway where we walk. On the way back, something soaring in the air caught my eye. It looked like a really BIG bird. It settled on a utility pole less than thirty feet away, and I was able to identify it. It was a huge, well-fed, Red-Tailed Hawk. There he sat, for several minutes; serene, calm, and looking extremely satisfied with himself. Evidently, he had found the bunnies.

Nature sometimes get out of balance, and then corrects itself. Most of the famines in the Twentieth Century (The Holodomor, Biafra, Bangladesh, Eritria, etc)were caused by politics rather than bad weather. Even today, in our own country, drought, supply-chain delays, and the destruction of food processing facilities are the result of man, not nature. War, Civil Unrest, Revolution, and Evil Dictators are more destructive to the People than "Climate Change". Just my opinion, but I think that History will bear me out.

In God's perfect world, all of His creatures are provived for. They are fruitful, and they multiply. They keep each other in balance due to the natural order of things. When one species gets too numerous, their predators also flourish, and the the planet goes onward. As humans, we have no power to stop Solar Flares, Comets and Asteroids, or control the Weather. We do have a responsibility to keep pollution at bay, to manage the land and water, and to conserve resources. Those are good things! But, to deny people sustenance over politics or climate theory is evil.

If we live in harmony and balance with God's Creation, and with Creation's God, we will be provided with all we need.
