Treasures in Heaven

Sorry I am late today. Here is my day so far:

1. Woke Up. Got Dressed, and Took Tippy for her walk. Everything was wet outside from days of rain.

2. As I was walking, I saw a familiar-looking folded piece of paper on the sidewalk. It was a CDC Vax Card. The name on it was Frank something, but there was no other info except his birthday and 3 Moderna Vaxes. I agonized a bit about seeing if I could find the person, but perhaps even possession of someone else's Vax Card could be a crime in Massachusetts. (Everything ELSE is! (LOL). Anyway, I stuck the Vax Card up on the PVC Fence at eye level so that if Frank retraced his steps, he would find it easily. Then I continued on my way. (about 5 minutes lost)

3. Tippy did her business, and when I went to pick it up I saw something moving. Oh NO!!! Worms! The once-a-month Rx wasn't working! Oh well, I have something at home that WILL work (illegal in MA, just like everything else, but Tippy's health is more important). And so, I continued on my walk, texting my friend to cancel Tippy's Play Date on Monday. Isolate, Isolate, Isolate! (Another 10 minutes lost).

4. Immediately upon arriving home, I gave Tippy the first of Three Treatments of the illegal horse medicine. This involved gaining her total confidence and then instantly betraying it by sticking a plunger in her mouth. She looked at me with the saddest eyes and them promptly threw up on the carpet. No worries. I have a spot remover vac. But it was empty of solution. I think I have another bottle somewhere. I had to rummage in the Laundry Room (a closet which also contains the furnace) until I found it. It was UNDER the Air Conditioner Unit that I had just stored for the winter and takes up the whole closet. Then I cleaned up the spill. (Almost 30 minutes lost!)

5. Then I gave Tippy her breakfast, and made my own. One of our Precious Prayer Warriors here on FR gave me a magnificent collection of Wisconsin Cheese, so I had some of that for breakfast on an English Muffin. This required more prep time than actual EATING time, but it sure was delicious. (about 30 minutes) As I ate my breakfast, I did my Bible Reading (multi-tasking!)

6. Since Tippy had thrown up the horse medicine, I had to re-dose her. This involved gaining her trust and betraying it again. This time, she held it down. Two more days of this, and a repeat of next month should get rid of the worms.

7. Of course, cleaning up the horse-paste-vomit meant I had to do a load of laundry. (Another 20 minutes lost.)

8. Finally, I sat down to do the thread. Here I am. I still have to set up my pills for the week, clean out the Spot-Vac, and put the laundry in the Dryer. But that can wait until I finish.

PS. I hope Frank finds his Vax Card, but if not, he can always get copies rom CVS.

I don't have a lot of money, but it is not as valuable to me as another finite resource, which is "TIME". In a number of songs that I perform live, the lack of TIME is often lamented. In "Wild Hoses" by the Rolling Stones, I sing:

"...I have my freedom,
But I don't have much time"

In the song entiteled "Time" by Pink Floyd, I sing these words:

"The sun is the same, in a reative way,
But you're older,
And shorter of breath,
And one day closer to death."

Now, neither The Rolling Stones nor Pink Floyd are paragons of Faith and Virtue, but they sure do write good songs. And they are right about one thing. We have no control over time. We can't "save" it, or put some aside for later, extend it, or hoard it. Theoretically, you can play around with Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, to speed things up or slow things down, but that is only in our imagination, and I don't want to waste time thinking about it. One of our Prayer Warriors is a Space Scientist, and I think she will agree :-)

I have six hours of lessons that I missed while I had Covid, that I have already been paid for, and I have to find time to make them up. But the week is already filled with Current lessons, and I have no idea when I will be able to find the time. I hear that audiences are asking for me (to sing Wild Horses and Time) on Tuesday Nights at the rejuvenated "Open Mike", but that's when I ride with my Brother. I'll have to ask him if he has time on another evening in the week, that doesn't clash with Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday's Lessons. (sigh). I wish, that like money, Time could be put aside in a vault for Emergency Use Only. But "Time " is the ONLY thing that can't be hoarded.

In The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talks about hoarding. None of it is profitable. Hoarding indicates a type of distrust. It is as if we don't trust God to take care of us. Even money in a safe loses value. The $500.00 put aside for "Emergency Use Only" won't even cover frozen pipes or a furnace breakdown. (Or even a Brake Job on my Motorcycle). Recent Stock Market fluctuations have cause retirees' 401K's and IRA's to plummet in value. We are told, rather, to "Lay Up Treasure in Heaven".

Although we are neither saved nor kept by our Good Deeds, They are the Evidence of our Relationship with God. In the Eternal Economy, they are worth infinitely more than any kind of treasure on Earth. Some people have no money, but are very rich indeed.

Others have lots of money but are miserable human beings. The ones with the most Heavenly "wealth" are the ones who are least concious of it. They just trust in God, and God takes care of them. Even if sometimes we feel as though He's sticking a plunger of horse medicine in our mouths!

AMEN!! thank you. Joining in prayer. I was away to Rhode Island this weekend visiting my daughter and grandchildren and we took an overnight trip into Massachusetts. Spectacular trees right now. These treasures freely given - all creation for that matter. May our hearts offer a pleasing sacrifice of PRAISE and WORSHIP to our Great GOD and Savior. My daughter works in an Alzheimer’s Care Facility in RH as a nurse. They have been going through management problems, and this weekend the owner (who lives in NJ) just hired a new supervisor to run the place. As with alot of places lately when the “new” come in the “old” get let go. How sad. These precious nurses who have developed a loving and caring relationship with these precious people are suddenly “let go” and being replaced. Many with ones of lesser experience and inturn lesser pay, at the expense of care. This also happened to my sister who worked at a doctors office for 30 years. They sold their business and out she went. Everything is turning so impersonal. I pray for my daughter - for where her heart is that is where her treasure is - she loves working and caring for the ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia. May the LORD guide her into a place where she can minister most.
