Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 5
Eye for Eye
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
My Lord and My God!
You are a Shield to me,
My Glory,
And The Lifter of My Head.
My Defense,
My Protection,
My Encouragement,
My Hope!
You Alone are the One True God Over All!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 135
1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord;
give praise, O servants of the Lord,
2 you that stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing to his name, for he is gracious.
4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself,
Israel as his own possession.
5 For I know that the Lord is great;
our Lord is above all gods.
6 Whatever the Lord pleases he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.
7 He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth;
he makes lightnings for the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
8 He it was who struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
both human beings and animals;
9 he sent signs and wonders
into your midst, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 He struck down many nations
and killed mighty kings—
11 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
and Og, king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan—
12 and gave their land as a heritage,
a heritage to his people Israel.
13 Your name, O Lord, endures for ever,
your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages.
14 For the Lord will vindicate his people,
and have compassion on his servants.
15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
they have eyes, but they do not see;
17 they have ears, but they do not hear,
and there is no breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them
and all who trust them
shall become like them.
19 O house of Israel, bless the Lord!
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!
20 O house of Levi, bless the Lord!
You that fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
21 Blessed be the Lord from Zion,
he who resides in Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

Once again, I apologize for being a bit late this morning. The virus has left me extremely achy and tired, and every motion seems like performing intricate brain surgery while wearing SCUBA gear thirty feet under water. I thank you for your prayers for recovery, and I feel it happening.
This morning, I resumed my long morning walks with the dog. The weather is perfect for it...brisk enough to require a denim jacket, but not miserably cold.
We use that word "Perfect" a lot, but do we really know what it means? Joan Rivers (RIP) was famous for the line "Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!!" and Catwoman from the old Batman series used to say "PURRRRRRR-fect!" in her special way. We sometimes exclaim, "Well, that's just PERFECT!" when we mean the exact opposite, and we have reached the end of our rope.
The person Jesus is describing in The Sermon on the Mount is Perfect. It is hard to imagine anyone like that. In fact, the more Perfect a Person becomes, the more prone he is to arrogance, pride, and a sense of entitlement. The author Ayn Rand, for example, tries to create the "Perfect" Man in the character of architect Howard Roark. As much as Roark is the protagonist in the book, he's not a very likable person, and in fact does some very imperfect things (such as rape and blowing up buildings!) in his arrogance. I love Ayn Rand's books, and she was prophetic about the state of the economy, but I think she missed the boat on spiritual matters.
Roark's striving for perfection and artistic integrity diverted energy away from other aspects of his personality, depriving him of what St. Paul called The Fruit of the Holy Spirit". These are: "Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness, Kindness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control". (Ephesians 5). As long as Roark sneered at the rest of the world for NOT being perfect, he would never achieve perfection himself.
In tomorrow's Reading, we will hear Jesus saying, "Be ye perfect, even as your Heavenly Father is perfect." How can anyone achieve that? The more we strive for perfection, the less perfect we become. Tomorrow we will talk about how this is accomplished.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Blessings and Prayers up ❤ 🙏
Side note.
Been obsessing the warm kindness of Jimmy Stewart’s Elwood in “Harvey” this week. Even watching the other ones with Art Carney abd Harry Anderson. I highly recommend it to anyone needing a laughter and kindness break.
