In 2021, the American Worldview Inventory released data analyzing the top 10 most prevalent "seductive unbiblical ideas" embraced by American adults. With contemporary culture becoming more secular, belief systems divergent from Scripture are not surprising.
What is surprising, however, is that even among adults who have a biblical worldview, 6% harbor many secular beliefs as part of their personal philosophy.
"According to researcher George Barna's methodology, someone must score 80% on beliefs and behaviors to be categorized as someone with a biblical worldview," the director of Center for Biblical Worldview, David Closson, told The Washington Stand. "However, the pervasiveness of some of these faulty beliefs means that there are some Christians with a biblical worldview who nonetheless hold a few beliefs that are contrary to the truth revealed in God's Word."
Closson emphasized that for Christians to counter "widespread" faulty beliefs they must know what the Bible says on these issues.
Here are the nation's 10 most prevalent "seductive unbiblical ideas" compared to what the Bible says:
"The spiritually inclusive idea that 'having faith matters more than what faith you have'"

The Laodicean church.
Prosperity has done us in. Very few people have the spiritual maturity to handle earthly wealth appropriately.
I met a woman once believed that God did not care if she sinned, so she didn’t worry about what she did.
That and turning a blind eye towards sin. The main focus of the church has been the forgiveness of sin but no required repentance of it. People go to church without asking for forgiveness because they think there’s nothing wrong with them and Jesus forgives..etc…. Apathy towards sin increases to the point where see it now, anything goes. Gay marriage, pornography, sex outside marriage entitlement, other lusts…
Believing that sure makes it easier to be all things at once and a member in good standing with all clubs.
No era has been perfect, but Revelation Chapter’s 2-3 gives a prophetic view (then) of the last 2000 yeas (as viewed back now).

Xlnt point. I will use it when appropriate.
“The Protestant Reformation Age (”The Age of Enlightenment”)”
The Protestant Reformation had nothing to do with the Age of Enlightenment, its main spokesman being Voltaire, who hated Christianity.

Man will never defat sin. Christ the Victor defeated sin on the cross taking God’s full condemnation, judgement, and punishment for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). God is NOT imputing the world’s sin to them but instead is reaching out in love to be reconciled to the world (2 Corinthians 5:17-19).
The only sin left is that of not receiving Christ. CHRIST, not sin, is the issue. “What will you with Christ?” has been the issue for 2000 years and is the issue today.
Maybe so, but the Protestant Reformation Age brought the world out of the Dark Ages.

Maybe so, but the Protestant Reformation Age brought the world out of the Dark Ages.
Jim, if there were only ‘about 1,5000’ demon possessed swine in Mark , these last 500 could be considered a break from the Dark.
But the bible predicted about 2,000
That about 2,000 figure was used in the Old Testament for distance once.
The distance Israel was to be kept from the Ark before crossing over into the Promised Land.
Spiritual Israel has the same distance.
Not about 1,500 but about 2,000.
And that’s how long the Ark has been in Heaven. About 2,000 years.
The 1,500 plus these last 500 , Likened to demon possessed unclean animal that wasn’t to be eaten or even touched.
Doctrines of Demons.
Fully leavened Church age since the Light left.
Not sure Mother and daughters are ready to own that part of bible prophecy
Amazing Grace
There are varying degrees of Karma. Karmic debt as you describe above can be used by some to explain bad things happening to otherwise good people or explaining how someone could be born with a serious genetic abnormality. In many cases it is easier for people to find some reason behind things. Many people do not like the fact that random chance occurs in life.
Is it any different than trying to explain original sin?
The Karma that most people think of is of the "you reap what you sow" variety. Which is also an eastern religious explanation of Karma. If you lead a sinful life and continue to make non-virtuous decisions you will start to pay the price in this life for those decisions.
Karma is a nice short word. As a Christian I can use it to mean the within this lifetime kind of karma. In using it I don't necessarily have to buy in to a reincarnation philosophy.
With that said while it's not standard Christian philosophy there have been Christians that believe in reincarnation. The early gnostic Christians, General Patton, my Aunt for instance.
If I have faith that Christ paid the debt for my sins, does a distorted metaphysical world view negate that? If my faith would save me from Hell would it not also save me from future lifetimes if they existed?
