Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Exodus 9
The Plague of Boils
8 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh. 9 It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils will break out on people and animals throughout the land.”
10 So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on people and animals. 11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians. 12 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said to Moses.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Holy Name!
You Are The Almighty,
The Rock of Ages,
The Ancient of Days,
The Great I AM,
The King of the Universe,
The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer of Worlds!
The Alpha and Omega,
The Beginning and the End
Our Provider,
Our Banner,
Our Healer,
Our Righteousness,
Our All Sufficient And Wonderful All In All!
We Come Into Your presence With Singing, Praise and Worship,
For You Alone Are Worthy to Be Praised!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I rode a motorcycle for years, and had not paid much attention to the soot and grime that hit my face as I rode along in traffic. I just washed my face every night with soap and water and thought that was enough. Then, my friend Lil offered to give me a free facial, using Mary Kay products, to deep-clean the pores on my face. It was the first time I had ever done such a luxury "Beauty Treatment" and I was astounded at the improvement. There were five steps in the skin-care program involving cleansing, toning, exfoliation, moisturizing and protecting. At the time, Mary-Kay was the only company that used these five steps. Now, all of them, from L'Oreal to Estee-Lauder, have skin-care that is in several steps, corresponding to MK's original Five Step Program. When women noticed that an ordinary 75 cent bottle of Witch Hazel worked just as well as the expensive skin toners, the manufacturers of that mundane product changed the label to "ALL-NATURAL HERBAL SKIN REFRESHER AND TONER" and began selling the bottles of Witch Hazel in the cosmetic aisle rather than next to the generic rubbing alcahol. And then they raised the price to $7.00. It was still cheaper than Estee-Lauder though.
I still ride, and I still take good care of my skin.
The Ancient Egyptians were meticulously clean. They shaved off all their hair to prevent lice, and wore wigs instead. They were known to bathe several times a day and used ointments, perfumes, and cosmetics to anoint their skin. Wax pomades of perfume were attached to special-occaision wigs, and as the party heated up, the perfume would melt down the tresses, anointing the wearer with its sweet essense. And yet, they lived in a very dirty, dusty, sooty environment.
Dung fires, glass furnaces, brick kilns, metal forges, and jewelry ovens operated non-stop as Pharaoh built his Treasure Cities. But, of course, the elite were not bothered by those things. They had slaves to do the work. Not only that, the Egyptians had three gods to protect them from skin disease. They were the goddess Sehkmet, the god Serapis (Apis), and the late great physician Imhotep. Amulets were worn to ward off disease. And so, with proper skin care habits, amulets, three "gods", and slaves to do the dirty work, the Ancient Egyptians were confident that nasty skin diseases wouldn't affect them.
The slaves didn't have Skin-Care. One can only imagine the misery the people suffered as a result of all that soot and grime. It gave them a horror of skin diseases that is reflected in the Bible with the Laws regarding Leprosy and other infectious skin ailments. To this day, we have a horror of diseases that express themselves in a person's skin. The mere word "Pox" has come to mean a curse or hex against a person or thing.
As we have discovered, each plague targets an Egyptian false god for humiliation and repudiation. The Plague of Boils, which Moses initiates by tossing a handful of soot from a furnace, is not only symbolic of the Hebrew Slaves suffering from their toil around the brick dust and kiln soot, but a mockery of the Egyptian gods, their hygenic practices, their medical establishment, and their belief system. It also reciprocates their cruelty, self-righteousness, and hypocrisy.
Jesus similarly rebuked some Pharisees (who were very hygenic and meticulous) as having cleaned the outside of the cup, but left the inside dirty. He was not saying that we shouldn't be clean on the outside, but that we need to be clean on the inside as well.

In the beginning God said let there be rules. We’ll call it “Reality”. After that you’re pretty much on your own. I might come around now and then and see how things are going.

Psalm 129
A Song of Ascents.
1 ‘Often have they attacked me from my youth’
—let Israel now say—
2 ‘often have they attacked me from my youth,
yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 Those who plough ploughed on my back;
they made their furrows long.’
4 The Lord is righteous;
he has cut the cords of the wicked.
5 May all who hate Zion
be put to shame and turned back.
6 Let them be like the grass on the housetops
that withers before it grows up,
7 with which reapers do not fill their hands
or binders of sheaves their arms,
8 while those who pass by do not say,
‘The blessing of the Lord be upon you!
We bless you in the name of the Lord!’
